2022 MINI Convertible Seaside Edition
''As blue as the sea, as stunningly white as the beach''. If that isn't the perfect phrase to describe the new MINI Convertible Seaside Edition, then I'll bet there aren't any that could come close.
The MINI Convertible now comes in the Seaside Edition with unique design and equipment features, optionally available in the body colours Caribbean Aqua and Nanuq White, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the sporty open-top MINI four-seater.
In the UK, December is an odd time to consider purchasing a convertible, but MINI appears to believe that the winter is the ideal season to introduce the drop-top Seaside Edition.
The Seaside Edition offers Caribbean Aqua or Nanuq White body which rides on 18-inch wheels including a two-tone finish and a seven-spoke design plus cut-out sections. A special badge is on the front fender, and there are white stripes on the upper portion of the flanks.
Moving inside, the dashboard has discreet stripes attached. The door sill plates, and steering wheel noted with "Seaside" graphic. Here’s a fun fact! Since this year marks the 30th anniversary of droptop MINIs’, the firm decided to have number 30 printed on the key.
Based on the Cooper S trim, the MINI Convertible Seaside Edition has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 176 horsepower (131 kilowatts). It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.2 seconds.
With today's exchange rates, you can order it there for as little as RM 184,78 ($41,698). Pricing information will be released at the end of January. More than that, the special edition model will be available in the United States in the first quarter of 2023.
On a different note, the company had previously offered the drop-top MINI Cooper S in both the standard and "Sidewalk Edition" in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Back then, MINI Malaysia offered 20 units available each commanding an RM279,888 price tag excluding insurance and registration costs.
Following another year, an additional 20 units of Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition cost RM285,899.47 excluding insurance with the government's current SST waiver. However due to SST in 2021, the Sidewalk Edition costs RM295,888 from January 1, 2021 onwards.
The MINI Convertible Seaside Edition however, may eventually be made available in our local market, but only time will tell. Stay tuned with Caricarz to know more!
