BMW Malaysia 2023 Price Update: iX EV Up by RM24K, M3 by RM30K

BMW Malaysia has unveiled the official price list for 2023, which saw prices of several models being increased by up to RM30,000. Prior to this, BMW Group Malaysia has announced the price increment percentage for BMW and MINI models for 2023, which was expected to rise by up to 6.3%.

Starting off with the marque’s most popular EV model to date, the iX, which saw its price being increased by up to RM24,000 for the baseline xDrive40 variant, thus making its new price of RM385,430 about 6.64% higher than last year’s price (RM361,430). The midrange xDrive40 Sport variant, on the other hand, increased from RM407,430 last year to RM429,430. The newly-launched xDrive50 variant, however, remains the same as it already came with 2023 pricing.

Still within the EV segment, both the i4 eDrive 40 M Sport and the range-topping M50 variant have also risen in price, now capping at RM384,210 and RM430,210 respectively,

Aside from the EVs, other BMW’s SUV models have also risen in price, with the X3 range up by as much as RM7,610, the X6 rose by RM870, while the sole X4 xDrive30i M Sport model rose the most amongst the X-badged models by RM12,610 compared to last year.

On the performance front, both the M5 and M5 Competition cost RM450 more than before, while the M3 Competition went up by RM30,130 – the highest increase amongst all models.

Apart from that, a slew of other BMW models like the 1 Series M135i xDrive, 2 Series 218i Gran Coupe M Sport, 5 Series 530i M Sport, 6 Series 630i GT M Sport, as well as the Z4 convertible, are all increased in price this year.

Interestingly, some plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models actually reduced in prices for 2023. This includes the X5 xDrive45e M Sport and the 5 Series 530e M Sport, which decreased by RM130 and RM1,067 respectively. Plus, the 8 Series M850i xDrive MY Edition gran coupe sees its price drop the most in 2023 by about RM15,060, now costing only RM1,057,640.

Just like the other brands, BMW Malaysia's price increments are due to the rising manufacturing costs, as well as the global inflation and fluctuating forex rates. Prior to this, Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) had previously warned about the possibility of the car price increase due to global supply chain disruptions, semiconductor chips shortage and other external factors as well.
