Nissan Kicks SUV Transformed into A Massive New Balance Sneaker
Yes, folks. What you see here is a Nissan Kicks SUV that’s been transformed into a gigantic New Balance Sneaker. This idea, which is obviously not intended for production, sees the Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD serving as its base.
This was done as part of a cross-branding promotional effort between carmaker Nissan and sneakers brand New Balance. The SUV was given a custom wrap that covered the entire exterior and back windows, giving it the appearance of an enlarged duplicate of the New Balance 327 Edition sneakers.
Nissan also placed shoe laces on the bonnet, as well as a custom roof extension mounted on the SUV's roof rails added with various textures and stitching of the shoes that inspired it. This add-on is the frosting on the cake, modelled after the upper half of the shoe and giving us the impression that a big foot could fit within the Kick's cabin.
In the process of promoting both the SUV and the sneakers for the one-off campaign called "Catch the Kicks", people who spotted and posted the crossover on Twitter will get the chance to win themselves a brand new Nissan Kicks e-Power 4WD.
Above all, said lucky followers who retweet the official post will also be in the running to win a pair of New Balance 327 sneakers from Nissan. Furthermore, residents in Japan can visit the New Balance store in Ginza, Tokyo on January 24 to obtain a sticker that can be exchanged for a free cup of macchiato at Nissan's Crossing Cafe.
Just so you know, the Nissan Kicks 327 Edition will also be exhibited at the Nissan Crossing, a complete re-do of the Nissan Gallery which served as a Ginza landmark for over 50 years.
Locally, the Kicks SUV has long been rumoured for launch by local Nissan vanguards Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) since 2019 at least. However, said assembler and distributor has yet to launch the model thus far.
