New Forza Motorsport Racing Game Teased – Over 500 cars and 20 tracks
In the recent Xbox and Bethedsa Developer Direct showcase, developers Turn 10 Studios have teased its upcoming Forza Motorsport game title for both Xbox and PC. Plenty of details and in-game footage were released, however a release date still remains unconfirmed.
Nevertheless, avid PC and Xbox racing game fans have plenty to forward to once the title eventually releases. Key headlines are the inclusion of over 500 cars with over 100 of which marking their debut appearances in the title, and the availability of 20 circuits and locations.
What’s also exciting is the addition of over 800 unique upgrades available for car customisation. There’s also five newly added circuits and venues to the roster and it includes Hakone in Japan, as well as the famed Kyalami circuit in South Africa.
Developers Turn 10 Studios are touting this instalment of its famed racing simulator series as the most technologically advanced racing title ever made. Everything, including gameplay, uses 4k resolution at 60 frames per second with real-time ray tracing.
For the first time, dynamic time-of-day settings will turn day into night while racing. Additionally, advanced models for weather will deliver everything from rain to organic cloud formation. As you race, rubber builds up in areas on the track. All these factors will affect track conditions and, if you crash, individual damage models will deliver unique battle scars.
Arthur Shek, director of motorsport content, states that the circuits featured in Forza Motorsport feature ten times the detail over previous Forza iterations, with the photographic capture of the circuits alone taking up over 3TB of data by the studio’s environment teams.
Furthermore, Turn10 Studio has worked with both Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos towards improving vehicle and environment sounds. The firm says upgraded cars in the game will sound different, whilst the audio system boasts new features like a regional track announcer.
Overall, it appears as if Turn 10 Studios have indeed developed a strong rival against the Playstation-exclusive Gran Turismo title by Polyphony Digital. As stated, no release dates were mentioned, but all signs point towards a release sometime this year.
