Rolls-Royce Sets New Sales Record in 2022, with 6,021 Cars Delivered
The post-pandemic economic recovery phase sees many automakers, including the luxurious ones, increase their total sales figure for the year 2022. One of said marques is famed British automaker, Rolls-Royce, who recently set a new vehicle sales record by delivering a total of 6,021 units in 2022.
This record-breaking feat also marks the marque’s first-time ever in its 118-year old history, to deliver more than 6,000 vehicles in a single calendar year – a truly remarkable feat indeed. Setting up shop in over 50 countries across the globe, the bulk of the brand’s sales stem from the five key region markets, namely the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe, as well as the United States.
Of the four key markets, the United States remains Rolls-Royce’s best-performing market, with China trailing behind closely.
The marque’s flagship SUV, the Cullinan, remains as its best-selling model, followed closely by the Ghost, which in itself, was the best-selling model in Asia-Pacific region.
Just like its compatriot and close rival, Bentley, the 2022 also saw the increase of Rolls-Royce’s bespoke and commissioned units, where customers forked out an average of more than US$500,000 (RM2,188,150) for one of those bespoke models. No surprise, the Middle East region still remains as the brand’s leading bespoke products market.
Commenting on this momentous feat, Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said, “2022 has been a momentous year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Not only did we reveal Rolls‑Royce Spectre, our marque’s first ever fully-electric series model to the world, it was also the first year we ever delivered more than 6,000 cars in a single 12-month period.”
In spite of this positive revelation, the CEO still insists that Rolls-Royce is “not and never will be a volume manufacturer.”
Aside from the Cullinan and Ghost, Rolls-Royce’s first all-electric model, the Spectre, saw its demand exceeding expectations, though the exact details on the EV’s demands and reservations weren’t disclosed, as for now. The brand’s EV debutant is poised to be delivered by the fourth quarter this year.
