Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke earlier today announced that the investigation on the structural damage of the viaduct and the cracked pier near the Bandaraya LRT station is complete. This service interruption between the Masjid Jamek LRT station and the Bandaraya LRT station happened on 27 Jan 27 2023.

The investigation shows that damages to the three viaduct structures and the pier was caused by "ground movement" believed to be from works at the adjacent construction site. According to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), the construction works were performed without any consultation with APAD under the Railway (Railway Protection Zone) Regulations 1998 [P.U. (A) 367].

Prasarana, the concession holder for Rapid KL is now in the process of appointing a contractor to carry out the repair work which is expected to start in early March and would take up to seven months to complete.

These seven months would include two months for strengthening of the structure and five months for comprehensive repair works. Prasarana would be looking into legal action against the developer for the damages incurred.

Once the Putrajaya Line MRT service is operational this coming March, users of the Ampang/Sri Petaling Line will have an alternative route to the city centre via interchange stations such as Chan Sow Lin, Titiwangsa and Sg Besi.

While the repair works are being carried out, Rapid KL would continue the feeder bus service which has been ongoing since 27 Jan.
