All KTMB Stations Must Have Lifts Within One Year - Anthony Loke

According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke, all Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) stations must have lifts within a year. He stated that the order was issued in response to frequent public complaints that the lack of lifts at commuter stations had hampered travelers, particularly those with disabilities, senior citizens, and pregnant women. "This year, the emphasis is on upgrading lifts." "Within one year, all commuter stations must have lifts," he said yesterday at the launch of the Railway Assets Intelligence System (RAILS) mobile app, which was developed by the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC).

Loke stated that RAC had been directed to prepare an audit report with KTMB for urgent submission to the ministry regarding stations that should be prioritized in terms of facility provision. He stated that RAC has the capability and financial resources to provide facilities at stations in exchange for rental revenue. RAC manages land for commercial development and looks after rail assets, including land along railway lines.

Loke stated that the RAILS app provides online railway asset rental applications to make it easier for the general public to become RAC business partners. RAILS is expected to be used by approximately 1,300 renters to conduct business with RAC, thereby eliminating the need for collection agents and bureaucratic red tape. Source: Bernama
