The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Putrajaya Line Phase Two, which will open on March 16, is expected to reduce traffic congestion, particularly on roads and highways leading to the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The Phase Two line, which stretches 40.2 kilometres (km) from Kampung Batu to Putrajaya Sentral, includes a number of hot spot locations or stations, including Sungai Besi, Chan Sow Lin, and Ampang Park, which are the focus of the working population. The MRT Putrajaya Line will also have interchange station services with the Kelana Jaya LRT, Kajang MRT, and KL monorail.

The MRT Putrajaya Line spans 57.7 kilometres from Kwasa Damansara to Putrajaya Sentral, with 36 stations including nine underground stations and 49 train sets. During the operational review of the Putrajaya line today, MRT Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim stated that the grade of automation of all trains on the Putrajaya MRT line was at level four (GoA4), which means that the trains are controlled automatically without human intervention. He stated that the automation system is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and is fully controlled from the operations centre in Sungai Buloh.

"It is similar to using robotics with the sophisticated automated system. We must ensure that the individual operating the system has the necessary skills "He added.

Previously, media professionals were given the opportunity to ride the MRT from Putrajaya Sentral to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) station, which took about one hour and 15 minutes back and forth with no stops. Bernama discovered that the HKL station near the hospital's Institute of Urology and Nephrology is exceptionally user-friendly, with escalators and stairs that are not too high, as well as a travelator similar to those found in airport terminals. According to Mohd Zarif, such user-friendly initiatives were implemented with the welfare and condition of patients travelling to HKL in mind. Furthermore, he said that the current cashless payment method, which uses the Touch 'n Go card, may be expanded to include credit and debit cards, but this has yet to be implemented.

"However, the payment machines at MRT stations have been equipped with payment transaction systems in the future to cater to those using ATM cards or smart watches," he said, adding that Prasarana Malaysia Berhad would make an announcement on the subject. Meanwhile, he encouraged passengers to use the unlimited travel pass, My50, which costs RM50 per month. The MRT Putrajaya Line Phase Two will be open to the public on March 16 at 3 p.m., following the official launch by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Previously, the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One from Kwasa Damansara to Kampung Batu began service on June 16 of last year. The Putrajaya MRT line, worth RM30.53 billion, is expected to transport 104 000 passengers per day. Source: Bernama
