PM Announces Free MRT Putrajaya Line Fares Until End Of March
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has officially announced the full launch of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) service for the Putrajaya Line today (March 16) at Serdang Depot.
During his speech this morning, he also added that rides on MRT Putrajaya Line will be free of charge starting today at 3PM until March 31, 2023.
With the new free-of-charge notice, entire public get to enjoy the free rides of the 38.7 kilometres line while entire line is 57.7 kilometres long that serves a total of 36 stations on the route from Kwasa Damansara Station to Putrajaya Sentral.
As noted, there are nine underground stations and ten interchange including connecting stations that connect the line to other public train services in Klang Valley, such as the Kajang MRT line, LRT, monorail, and KTM.
Soon, the newly operational MRT Putrajaya line will be able to reduce road congestion that benefits commuters rather than taking roads and highways especially heading to a hectic area like Kuala Lumpur capital city.
This is because recently road users especially from Putrajaya and Seremban claim to have been encountering some serious traffic congestion on MEX and Sungai Besi highway that causes long delays for them to get to their destination. To recap, the MRT Putrajaya Line expected to have a daily ridership of 104,000.
