- VinFast Rolls-Out Second Batch Electric SUVs To US In April
Renowned electric vehicle (EV) carmaker VinFast recently announced its plan to deliver new electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to customers in the United States on April 4.
VinFast, which began operations in 2019, is gearing up to expand in the US market where it hopes to compete with legacy automakers with its two electric SUV models.
According to VinFast Chief Executive Officer Le Thi Thu Thuy, the company agreed to ship 900 VF 8 standard vehicles to California in early May and another 900 units to Canadians by June.
"We are working toward launching the standard VF 8 and will make sure to have all the required certificates at the time of delivery to customers’’ she added.
The exec further indicates that VinFast delivered a total of 990 VF 8 City Editions vehicles which had a shorter range than the upcoming SUVs to California late last year for its first batch.
“After Vietnam, VinFast expects to export the first batch of VF9 to international markets in the coming months,” VinFast said in a statement, without providing a specific timeline for deliveries of the new model.
The Vietnamese automaker also includes in their planning to send 700 standard VF 8s to the Europeans in mid-June this year.
According to reputable sources online, VinFast said it secured 55,000 orders globally, of which 12,000 were from the US market as of December last year.
