Rolls-Royce Cullinan Blue Shadow Debuts As Space-Inspired Limited Edition SUV
The Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan is already an impressive luxury SUV by itself. But should you think the standard models are too ‘civilian’ for your liking, perhaps this limited edition model will conform to your taste better.
Debut this week is the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow – a special edition Cullinan model that takes inspiration from the space. To be precise, folks at Rolls-Royce design team take inspiration from the Karman Line – a boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space.
The Stardust Blue hue on the Cullinan Blue Shadow is stunning indeed
Sitting exactly 62 miles (100 KM) above the sea level, this line is made visible by a dark blue shadow that separates the dark space void and the Earth’s blue sky. This is exactly where Rolls-Royce took the inspiration from, as the marque drapes this special model in custom Stardust Blue hue with Black Badge’s black exterior accents.
Apart from the colour, the Cullinan Blue Shadow also gets translucent lacquer on its massive wheels, while the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament is made of 3D-printed titanium, imbued with blue-tinted lacquer. At the base of the hood ornament lies the Blue Shadow and Black Badge infinity logo etchings.
The Blue Shadow theme continues on board this special Cullinan, as passengers will be greeted with a special door sill plate that displays the Black Badge infinity logo with Cullinan Blue Shadow lettering, as well as the car’s exact unit number. The front dash and door panels are painted with a special black-blue-white gradient hue, with a clear coat on the top.
The Starlight Headliner now features a moon embossing with detailed surfaces and craters
When passengers look up, they will see a special version of the RR’s signature Starlight Headliner, this time featuring the moon surface with 799 white and 384 blue LEDs. With up to five colours of thread used to create the moon embossing, it takes up to 250,000 separate stitches and two days to complete.
Aside from that, RR also paid extra attention in designing the Blue Shadow’s seats. The perforations on the seats leather create a pattern that takes inspiration from the view of Earth from space. Each chair has over 75,000 small holes, which a craftsperson creates by hand. Topping off the special cabin feature is the unique clock crowning above the front dash, featuring blue anodised sections and Blue Shadow engraving.
Fancy these colour-matching luggage set to go with your Cullinan Blue Shadow?
On top of these features, you can also add a variety of luxury accessories such as a bespoke car cover with similar pattern as the seats, a luggage set that matches the Blue Shadow’s exterior hue, as well as a 1:8 scale model of the Cullinan with fully-functional interior and exterior lighting.
The Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow edition is only available in 62 units – representing the distance in miles of the Karman Line from the Earth’s surface. And like many other special RR models, all 62 units are already spoken for, with each of them commanding an undisclosed price tag. But just like any Private Office-commissioned models, you can expect it to be much heftier than the standard model’s price.
