This Land Rover Defender SUV Inspired Watch Is Limited To Just 100 Pieces
Bamford, a luxury watchmaker and customizer, pays homage to this legacy by collaborating with Land Rover to create the LR002 watch. It is limited to 100 pieces and is only available through watch blog and retailer Hodinkee for $1,700.
Bamford outfitted the watch in a black titanium, DLC-coated case and replaced traditional dial numerals with white lume-coated dots and dashes for an eye-catching design that stands out like few other watches.
The case back also features collaborative branding as an understated nod to the ongoing collaboration, as well as a tried-and-true 40mm case diameter that should fit comfortably on most wrists.
Another collaborative touch completes the NATO-style strap, highlighting the specifications of this handsome, rugged field watch.
Land Rover eventually began supplying vehicles to militaries. In the 1960s, for example, the company modified its Series IIA model to be transportable by helicopter. Variants were used for a variety of purposes, including ambulances and anti-tank weapons transport.
Land Rover models, including Defender-based variants, served in the military throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Due to the long production run, decommissioned examples are available for citizens who want their own rugged SUV.
