The Lamborghini Urus is now all sold out, and a successor is due to arrive in late 2024.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann has reportedly told German newspaper Welt that the production run of the Italian brand’s super-SUV, the Urus, is now all sold out. This effectively means that the order books for the current model, available in both S and Performante guises, are now closed.

Adding to which, the exec has hinted that customers still keen to acquire the Lamborghini-flavoured super-SUV will need to wait for the Urus’ successor that’s slated to arrive in the market in late 2024. Winkelmann further confirmed that said successor will be an electrified plug-in hybrid (PHEV), a la the BMW XM and XM Label Red.

The Urus with a 'pure' combustion V8 as we know it is bowing out.

Detailed specifications weren’t disclosed, but it’s almost certain that Lamborghini will adopt a setup derived from its not-so-distant cousin form within the Volkswagen Group, namely the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid.

In said Porsche SUV, which was also recently face-lifted, it pairs up a turbocharged V8 with an electric motor and accompanying battery pack, which develops combined outputs of 670 HP and 900 NM. Lamborghini is also expected to fettle with this setup to further boost outputs for the Urus’ successor.

Presently, the face-lifted Urus super-SUV is offered in either S or Performante trims.

Above all, this aligns with Lamborghini’s planned direction to electrify its entire next generation road cars line-up. The first of which, the new V12-engined Revuelto flagship hypercar has proven that, and an electrified successor to the manic V10-engined Huracan supercar is also expected to arrive in 2024 as well.

As to when the famed raging bull marque is set to go fully electric, Winkelmann notes that this will happen circa 2028, reportedly through a 2+2 grand tourer offering too.
