Italian Police Recruits Lamborghini Urus Performante Super-SUV
Lamborghini 'loaned' toe Italian state police (Polizia di Stato) with a brand new Urus Performante super-SUV earlier this week.
The recently updated and uprated Lamborghini Urus Performante super-SUV has been ‘recruited’ to serve as an official police car in Italy.
Earlier this week, the famed Sant’Agata-based supercars marque officially handed over a special unit to the Italian State Police (Polizia di Stato), and said branch will task the super-SUV for ‘organ transport and special services’.
The Urus Performante 'recruited' for police work in Italy this week stems from a relationship Lamborghini kept with said law enforcement branch, and said collaboration marked its 20th anniversary this year.

Previously, Lamborghini had loaned the Italian state police with its V10-engined Gallardo (left) and its Huracan successor (right) for the same purpose.
The Urus Performante recruited this week comes from a long line of special cars loaned by the raging bull marque to the Italian police, with said relationship marking its 20th anniversary this year. Amongst past Lamborghini-supplied police cars in this time include the V10-engined Gallardo and its Huracan successor.
Unlike said supercars though, the Italian police have gotten themselves a replacement that’s not only equally as quick, but one that’s a whole lot more practical too – the Urus is, after all, a luxury performance SUV endowed with more than one passenger seat matched with a large and practical boot.
Based on the refreshed and uprated Urus Performante model revealed last year, it packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that develops 657 HP and 850 NM.

On board, this police-recruited super-SUV packs a special switchgear, armoured weapons box, flip-down message display, and a cargo hold that houses an organ transport fridge plus a defibrillator.
Unveiled last year, the refreshed and uprated Urus Performante packs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that outputs 657 HP and 850 NM. Paired with a trick all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup, it sees 0-100 KM/ despatched in just 3.3 seconds before hitting a claimed top speed of 306 KM/H.
However, expect the claimed century sprint time noted earlier to be a tad bit slower in this unit. Besides a special 360-degree LED lightbar and two-tone siren, other key additions include a special switchgear, armoured weapons box, flip-down message display, plus a specially outfitted cargo hold housing a defibrillator and organ transport fridge.
Unlike past cars it supplied to the Italian state police, Lamborghini took it upon themselves to design a special new livery for this Urus Performante police car.
At least the officers tasked with driving this can bask in its style. That’s because Lamborghini took it upon itself through the Lamborghini Centro Stile to design a special police livery for this super-SUV. It sees the combination of the Italian state police’s traditional blue-and-white scheme with tricolour bands and reflective police emblems.
“Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud,” said brand CEO Stephan Winklemann upon delivering the super-SUV to the Italian state police this week.
