- West Coast Expressway To Play A Key Role During Visit Perak Year 2024!
The CEO of West Coast Expressway (WCE), Lyndon Alfred Felix, stated that the completion of the WCE project would change Perak's tourism scene especially at Section 11 from Beruas to South Taiping and the Selangor end barrier sections. Furthermore, this developments coincide with Visit Perak Year 2024 where WCE will eventually provide visitors with a seamless travel experience exploring Perak's magnificent sites and distinctive attractions.
He further added that the Selangor end barrier, which includes Sections 1 (Banting-South Klang Valley Motorway) and Section 2 (South Klang Valley Expressway-Shah Alam Motorway), as well as Section 6 (Kapar-Assam Jawa), would be complete later this year, making it easier for tourists to traverse.
Felix stressed that the WCE will play a critical role in driving the state's economic growth and create new possibilities for local residents. The WCE will offer a magnificent coastal drive, connecting important tourist attractions along the Perak alignment, from Hutan Melintang to Teluk Intan, Sitiawan to Beruas, Trong, and finishing at South Taiping. It is expected that 8 million local tourists and 350,000 international visitors will benefit from WCE.
During the pre-launch of Visit Perak Year 2024, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad expressed excitement about the WCE project, stating it will open up new opportunities for promoting the tourism sector in Perak. The highway will act as a key entrance for tourists, taking them through different exits in Perak, including Teluk Intan, Lekir, Sitiawan, North Sitiawan, and the gateway to Pulau Pangkor.
Furthermore, the Changkat Chermin and Beruas exits will take tourists to the Central Perak district's distinctiveness and the historical value of the old kingdom of Gangga Negara plus improve access to Taiping Heritage Town via the Trong and South Taiping interchanges.
