Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner Arrives As Marque’s New Flagship Model
Renowned British boutique brand Bentley has a brand-new flagship luxury model based on its best-selling model, the Bentayga SUV. Cordially known as the Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) Mulliner, this flagship SUV is hand-crafted by the brand’s in-house coachbuilding arm Mulliner, featuring a slew of luxury amenities laced with modern tech equipment.
Bentley Bentayga EWB Mulliner packs a 542 HP-rated V8 mill under its hood
Powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill used on the non-Mulliner Bentayga, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive (AWD) system. This flagship SUV boasts a total system output of 542 HP and 770 NM, which is more than enough to propel this heavy vehicle from nought to 96 KM/H (60 MPH) in just 4.5 seconds. Flat-out, the Bentayga EWB Mulliner is capable of hitting its V-max of 290 KM/H.
Visually, the Bentayga EWB Mulliner looks somewhat similar to its standard twin, with an exception of several Mulliner touches, as well as its longer wheelbase – as its namesake suggests. Key Mulliner bits include the distinctive ‘Double Diamond’ front grille, a slew of chrome trims including on lower grille and side skirt, two-tone finishing on the side mirror caps, as well as the special 22-inch wheels with self-levelling caps – ensuring that the Bentley’s icon always stay upright even when the tyres are rolling.
For those who aren’t keen on the flashy chrome bits, there’s an optional Mulliner Blackline Specification package, which swaps the chrome finishing with gloss black finish instead.
The Bentayga EWB Mulliner comes in either a 4+1 or a 4-seater seat configurations
As expected, most of the Mulliner upgrades can only be seen when we step inside this flagship SUV. Available in either a 4+1 or 4-seat configurations, the Bentayga EWB Mulliner features the brand’s signature Airline Seats with 12 electric motors and 22-way adjustment. Unlike the Airline Seats we saw on the standard Bentayga, this one is wrapped in Mulliner Harmony Diamond Quilt leather upholstery with Mulliner embroidery.
The same material is also used on its door panels, which is matched with Grand Black wood veneers. Meanwhile, the central console is finished with a unique 3D diamond mill, while the dash is draped in sustainably-tanned Olive Tan leather. Adding another form of sustainability to this posh cabin are the cabin carpets, which are made out of 100% recycled Nylon.
Elsewhere, the Bentayga EWB Mulliner also comes with the Bentley Diamond Illumination feature that consists of dozens of LEDs (12 on each of the front doors, 22 on each of the rear ones) that emit light through small perforations in the leather trim.
As of writing, Bentley has yet to disclose the asking price for its latest flagship luxury model. But considering the standard, short-wheelbase Bentayga SUV fetching at least $200,000 (RM930,500 approx.), we can expect the Bentayga EWB Mulliner to be tagged much handsomer than that.
