This Casio Edifice Mugen Edition Watch Is Made For JDM Heads!
JDM fans, rejoice! Casio has another collaboration model under its wraps, as the Japanese watchmaker partnered with legendary JDM tuning house Mugen for its 50th birthday bash to unveil the all-new Casio Edifice Mugen Edition ECB-40MU watch.
Aside from being the latest motorsport-themed Casio Edifice model, this special model also marks the first time Casio has worked with the revered tuning house that has a long-standing collaboration with renowned Japanese marque, Honda. As a result, this model combines the essence of the revered successes that Honda and Mugen achieved together, including during the Japanese marque’s stint in the pinnacle of motorsports, the Formula One.

Casio Edifice Mugen Edition ECB-40MU watch
Featuring the same carbon fibre-reinforced plastic resin case found on most Casio G-Shock watches, the Mugen Edition is a lightweight watch compared to other ceramic-cased Edifice models. Casio also claims that the case design was inspired by the design of Formula One car suspensions, while its bezel has been engraved using the same typeface as what Mugen used on its cars’ gear knobs.
As expected in high-end Casio Edifice models, the Mugen Edition gets the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, while the strap is cut from premium Alcantara material. Speaking of the strap, more Mugen elements can be seen here, including both the Mugen eye and ‘kanji’ lettering emblems, as well as tri-colour stitching of the brand’s signature white, red, and gold colour scheme.
The same Mugen tri-colour can also be found donning the watch’s dial, with three horizontal lines running across the watch face and both the Mugen and Casio Edifice logo are placed on the 3 o’clock position. At the back part of the case, the Mugen Edition watch is donned with the Mugen logo engraved directly on the metal cover plate.
Based on the Edifice Sospensione ECB series, the Mugen Edition also gets the same smartphone connectivity feature done via the Bluetooth function. While it won’t have several health and fitness-related features like many smartwatches out there, this pairing feature allows the watch’s time to be automatically adjusted, while both the alarm and timer functions can now be set via the smartphone’s app.
While Casio mentioned that this Casio Edifice Mugen Edition will be a limited edition model, the watchmaker didn’t clarify anything pertaining to its production numbers. The watch will be made available in the Malaysian market soon, where you can purchase them via Casio Malaysia’s official website at RM1,749 a piece.
