The facelifted BMW X7 gets a new xDrive40i M Sport variant in Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has expanded its SUV lineup today, as the brand introduces a new sporty variant for the recently-facelifted BMW X7 model, known as the BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport. Locally-assembled (CKD) at BMW’s assembly plant in Kulim, this new variant boasts some sporty features, as well as a host of new on-board equipment.

As its name suggests, the X7 xDrive40i M Sport comes standard with the M Sport package, which bestows this full-size SUV with a slew of sports-oriented add-ons. This includes sportier front and rear bumpers courtesy of the M Aerodynamics Package, M emblem on its front quarter panel, BMW Iconic Glow front kidney grille with illuminated LED, as well as the 22-inch M Sport light alloy wheels it rides on.

As for the exterior colour options, the X7 xDrive40i M Sport is offered with the standard Black Sapphire Metallic and Mineral White Metallic, on top of the variant-exclusive M Brooklyn Grey Metallic colour – the same colourway offered to full-fledged BMW M cars.

More M-specific parts can be seen as we get inside the new X7. Upon entering the vehicle, passengers will be greeted by M-badged door entry sills, before being engulfed by the Merino leather-wrapped seats that come in either Black or Tartufo hues, as well as new ‘Fineline Black’ fine wood trim with high-gloss metal effect. Aside from that, the cabin is also equipped with a sporty M leather steering wheel, M Headliner Alcantara anthracite, Sky Lounge panoramic sunroof, alongside tech amenities like the BMW Curved Display comprises of a 14.9-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The X7 xDrive40i M Sport facelift is powered by the same MHEV powertrain setup as other variants

On the powertrain front, this sporty X7 variant still employs the same 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) setup we saw on other facelifted X7 variants. This setup features a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-6 as its core to help deliver 375 HP and 520 NM to all its four wheels via BMW’s proprietary xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD) setup and an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic gearbox. As a result, this full-size SUV can propel from nought to 100 KM/H in 5.8 seconds, en route to its gizmo-governed V-max of 245 KM/H.

Aside from that, the X7 is offered with several mechanical upgrades over the standard model. Amongst which including the optional M Sport brakes, two-axle air suspension setup, Executive Drive Pro package that includes active roll stabilisation, Integral Active Steering rear-wheel steering system, to name a few.

The all-new, locally-assembled BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport facelift is now available for booking, with on-the-road (OTR) prices starting from RM718,800, including a standard 5-year Extended Warranty and Service Package offered by BMW Malaysia. Plus, the new X7 variant is also offered with the BMW Group Malaysia Premium Ownership package, which includes a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service programme, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, as well as the BMW Service Online.

Prospective customers can learn more about this new sporty variant of the X7 by contacting any nearby authorised BMW dealers, or just visit BMW Malaysia’s official online retail platform.
