- No Cracks On Penang Bridge - Penang Exco
The Penang government has denied a viral post that claimed the Penang Bridge was cracking, NST reported. Zairil Khir Johari, chairman of the State Infrastructure Committee, stated that checks with officials from both Penang bridges revealed that the viral post was false.
"Checks revealed that the video footage that went viral was an old video."
"The said incident happened outside of Malaysia back in 2014," he told reporters.
A video of cracks appearing on a bridge structure went viral earlier today.
Some claimed that the structure was the second Penang bridge, or the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge as it is officially known. Zairil hoped that people would stop spreading the video, which could cause fear among the public.
"Don't spread untruth news," he advised.
