komuter1-full.jpg Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is expanding its cashless transaction capabilities by introducing a variety of new payment options for passengers. The company plans to accept credit card payments by the end of November 2023 and to integrate services such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay by early 2024.
This initiative is part of KTMB's larger effort to improve customer experience and streamline ticketing across its network. For KTM Komuter services in the Klang Valley and the Northern region, the rail operator has already begun accepting MyDebit debit cards.

KTMB plans to diversify commuter payment options with upgraded Automated Control Gates (ACGs) that include QR code readers for KTM Wallet users and payment card readers.
The expansion comes as KTMB plans to equip all 57 stations with the technology needed to support QR code scanning and card payments. Passengers will soon be able to pay for fares using a QR wallet code from the KTMB mobile app.

Due to backend processing stability concerns, MyDebit cards are currently the only debit cards accepted; however, KTMB has outlined a phased approach to incorporating other debit cards, including those issued by foreign banks.
When using MyDebit card payments, an RM30 pre-authorisation hold is applied, reflecting the maximum single journey fare, which is refunded within one to three days depending on the issuing bank's policy.
