Stunt Driver Sets Guinness World Record With Ford Ranger Raptor
Second-gen Ford Ranger Raptor launched late last year in Malaysia by SDAC.
The latest second generation Ford Ranger Raptor has already garnered plenty of accolades since its debut. Amongst them is a class win in the gruelling Baja 1000 desert raid – the every event that inspired this super-truck of sorts. More recently, the truck also set an oddly specific new Guinness World Record too.
At the hands of world renowned stunt driver Paul Swift, the Briton used the Ford Ranger Raptor earlier this month to complete the tightest gap driven through by a pickup truck on just TWO wheels. Not only is this record oddly specific, it’s one oddly satisfying and rather thrilling feat to watch too, as proven by the video below:
Measuring 5,381 MM long with a 3,270 MM wheelbase, 2,028 MM wide and 1,922 MM tall with a rather massive 265 MM ground clearance, not to mention its claimed 2,430 KG kerb heft, manoeuvring the V6-engined version of the Ranger Raptor for stunts as such is no easy feat, even on all fours.
Amazingly, 44-year-old Swift managed to two-wheel the Ranger Raptor through a tight 34.6-inch – approximately 879 MM – gap. Whilst the Ranger Raptor’s peppy 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 powertrain outputting 392 HP and 583 NM mitigates the weight challenge, the rest boils down to Swift’s driving skills.
Paul Swift successfully drove the Ford Ranger Raptor on two wheels through a tight 34.6-inch (879 MM) gap, and he made it look effortless!
Perhaps the fact that Swift started stunt driving since he was 7 years old, and built a career running a stunt driving business alongside his equally renowned father Russ Swift, made the feat look effortless. Despite the gimmick of this specific record attempt, the fact it was done at all is still pretty amazing.
Flagship V6-engined variant of the Ranger Raptor pictured. Launched late last year, this super-truck retails from RM259,888 onwards.
A 2.0 Bi-Turbo Diesel variant of the Ranger Raptor was introduced earlier this year tagged from RM248,888 onwards.
Launched locally in late 2022, the second-gen Ford Ranger Raptor sits at the very top of the current Next Generation Ford Ranger pick-up truck range priced from RM259,888 [Pen. Malaysia] onwards. It was joined by a 2.0 Bi-Turbo Diesel variant earlier this year priced from RM248,888 [Pen. Malaysia] onwards instead.
