This Ferrari 296 GT3 Scale Model Is A Petrolhead’s Dream Christmas Gift

While it’s a tad bit too late for us to suggest Christmas gift ideas for automotive enthusiasts, we can’t help but show you what may be a dream holiday’s gift for petrolheads out there, albeit with an eye-opening price tag.
Displayed here is the new Ferrari GT3 racecar 1:8 scale model by Amalgam Collection – a world-renowned scale model producer that has crafted some of the most exquisite and detailed models you’ve ever seen. This racecar model is also part of the firm’s extensive Ferrari scale model lineup, which includes legendary models like the 250 GTO and the F40, as well as some recent ones like the Purosangue.
Back to the new 296 GT3, this 1:8 scale model literally mirrors the actual race car, featuring every bit of detail like the winglets on its front bumper, the vented fenders, an accurate set of Pirelli racing slicks, and many other intricate aero bits present in the real model. Also present here are the exact colour code, decals, and liveries the racecar comes draped in.
This comes as no surprise, as it took Amalgam designers and artists over 3,000 hours to design the whole scale model, using Ferrari’s actual CAD data for the car. In spite of its smaller 1:8 scale, the 296 GT3 took about 300 hours to be assembled, with each of the models being put together by hand.
More intricate details and bits can be found inside the scale model
Things get more interesting once you go inside this scale model, as the cabin is meticulously designed and produced according to the real car. Here, you’ll find all of the car’s switches, knobs, dials, as well as several pieces of racing equipment like the bucket seats with Sabelt racing harness, the carbon fibre monocoque, roll cage, safety window cargo net, and even the Ferrari racing steering wheel with all the buttons and dials.
While the scale model’s clear window allows you to peek at its detailed innards, unfortunately the engine cover is sealed shut and features no clear window for us to peek at the twin-turbocharged V6 heart hidden beneath it.
At a price of an entry-level C-segment sedan, this Ferrari 296 GT3 scale model is definitely not for everyone
With all its intricate details and excellent craftsmanship, it is hard to argue that this 1:8 scale model of the Ferrari 296 GT3 is a perfect Christmas gift for any car nut out there, as long as you are willing to pay a ginormous premium for it. With only 199 examples available, each one of these intricate scale models is tagged at $18,090 (RM83,792).
For the price of a mid-specced Proton S70 C-segment sedan, one can argue that a real car would make a more sensible and reasonable gift to give. But then again, it is hard to argue and counter the cool factor this ultra-realistic scale model boasts.
