The highly anticipated new and all-electric Porsche Macan (also dubbed the Macan EV) is set to officially debut later this week on Jan 25. Ahead of which, Porshe’s design team have released new design sketches for which, along with some interesting details.
Effectively, these sketches released gives us an early look at the final production-form of the Macan EV ahead of this week’s launch, albeit from the front and rear angles only. Even at a glance, there’s certainly no mistaking these sketches for anything else indeed.

“We must make each new sports car clearly, recognizably part of the Porsche product family and of its respective model line. Yet it also has to be perceived as ‘the new one’,” says Style Porsche’s vice president Michael Mauer.
It is worth noting that the Macan EV is the first all-electric Porsche model to be built with an existing, established product identity built through Porsche’s groundbreaking Taycan EV sportscar.

To execute this, Porsche elected to lean on three core design pillars when styling the Macan EV, those being Focus, Tension, and Purpose. For instance, inside the Macan, “focus” translates to organising all of the controls so that they are all easily accessed by the driver.
Key to which is the Macan EV’s adoption of a novel new curved display module. Whilst here, Mauer also noted his team created a ‘minimalist mode’ in the instrument cluster that enables the driver to select only the elements of the instrument panel that are crucial for driving.
Whilst here, it’s also worth refreshing you that the new Macan EV will also boast a novel new augmented reality (AR) display tech in its heads-up display (HUD) – a first for any road-going Porsche too.

Underpinning Porsche's new EV-specific 800-volt platform, the Macan EV recently concluded final pre-production tests where it covered over 3.5 million KM in test mileage.
Underpinning Porsche’s new 800-volt EV platform, the highest guise of the Macan EV will output over 600 HP and 1,000 NM via a dual-motor setup juiced by a 100 kWh battery. It will also get all-wheel-steering, rear electronic diff-locking, and a trick air suspension with dual-valve dampers.
The model recently underwent its final phase of pre-production tests where it clocked a total test mileage of over 3.5 million KM over various weather and road conditions. Expect more details once the Macan EV officially debuts later this week.
