Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) is poised to ramp up its Ford Ranger Getaways programme this year. From the usual 4x4 driving courses, right up to thrilling off-grid adventures like paragliding and white water rafting, the discerning Ford Ranger owner certainly has plenty to look forward to.

These upcoming getaways will see Ranger owners basking in a richer and more immersive experience whilst also learning and exploring the full potential of their prized 4x4 pick-up trucks. Best of all? They’ll get to do all this not just with other like-minded Ranger owners, but also with best possible guidance and specially tailored curation by SDAC and its partners.

Things kick off on March 2 with a full-day beginner-level 4WD driving course at M4Trec in Semenyih, Selangor.

This is perhaps a staple experience for any first-timer to the Ford Ranger Getaways, and perhaps an essential one too, even for the seasoned and experienced off-road driver where it could serve as a good ‘refresher’ course.

On April 20, the Ford Ranger Getaways heads deep into Perak interior of Kampung Ulu Slim for a full-day drive that includes a beginner-friendly 4x4 driving trek, white water rafting, and a relaxing dip in Lobok Kotak.

Next comes another full-day adventure planned on April 20. This second instalment takes owners deep into Perak state’s interior, specifically towards Kampung Ulu Slim. The day starts with a beginner-friendly 4x4 off-road driving trek before switching up with a thrilling water rafting adventure through the rapids, culminating with a relaxing dip in the waters of Lobok Kotak.

On April 27, Ranger owners in Sarawak get the chance to put their truck to the ultimate test with a full-day training course held at the acclaimed Sarawak 4x4 Training Academy (Sar4Trac) in Barieng, Singau, Bau.

Of course, Ranger owners in East Malaysia aren’t overlooked by the Getaways programme. For Sarawak-based owners, a full-day off-road 4x4 driver training course will be held on April 27 at the acclaimed Sarawak 4x4 Training Academy (Sar4Trac) – the state’s first permanent 4WD off-road and safety training facility located in Kampung Barieng, Singau, Bau, Sarawak.

Whilst in Sarawak still, avid Ranger owners are also welcomed to visit the Off-Road Experience outpost in Saradise. Here, professional instructors are on hand to help owners properly get to grips with the terrain-conquering abilities of their prized Rangers through said outpost’s specially curated obstacles and training amenities.

The 'Sabah off-Road Training Experience' returns in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and it runs across two days on May 1 and May 19.

Similarly in Sabah, the ‘Sabah Off-Road Training Experience’ will be organised once again across two days on May 18 and 19. Owners will be able to better grasp their Rangers both on and off the tarmac across specially built private courses where they’ll get to pick-up valuable skills in maximising their Rangers in the rough. They’ll even receive a certificate upon completing these courses.

"Beach School', slated to take place on July 27, is a family-friendly convoy drive from SDAC Ford Ara Damansara to the Tanjung Tuan Forest - one of Malaysia's last untouched coastal forest reserves.

Also not forgotten are those who favour a dose of ‘Vitamin Sea’, to which the Ford Ranger Getaways programme gladly obliges on July 27 with a family-friendly ‘Beach School’ convoy drive from SDAC Ford Ara Damansara to the Tanjung Tuan Forest. This full-day outing includes a guided stroll through perhaps one of Malaysia’s last untouched coastal forest reserves.

On August 10, the Ford Ranger Getaways will host a full-day drive into Kuala Kubu Bharu where participating owners will get the chance to take flight in a paragliding and bask in the breathtaking high-altitude view of the surroundings.

For the avid adrenaline-fuelled thrill-seeker, fret not too. Ford Ranger Getaways has planned yet another full-day drive programme on August 10 to Selangor’s picturesque Kuala Kubu Bharu where participating Ranger owners will get to take flight and bask in the breathtaking and unforgettable high-altitude views of the surroundings in the hot seat of a paraglider.
