- Auto China 2024: NETA L Launched, REEV With 227HP & 1,300KM Range
NETA Auto officially launched the NETA L at the Beijing International Auto Show 2024 (Auto China). This model, which will be presented in Malaysia circa 2025, is NETA's next SUV aimed at the young family niche.
In terms of size and dimensions, the NETA L sits 4,770 MM with a 2,810 MM wheelbase,1,900 MM wide, and 1,660 MM tall.
The NETA L claims to have a low drag coefficient of 0.258 Cd while flawlessly emulating the "NETA Spirit" design language. The latter draws inspiration from young boldness. Constructed on the Shanhai platform, the NETA L boasts a roof crush strength of 8.4 tons due to its construction using "space-grade" 2000MPa hot-formed steel and aluminium.
The NETA L SUV, marketed as "a home away from home" due to its innovative space utilisation and suitability for long trips, is instead powered by a flat wire winding motor with emergency direct drive functionality, three-level intelligent power replenishment, and a Vanguard Energy Saving Mode.
The NETA L sees two variants available: range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) and pure electric car (to be launched soon). NETA Auto is heavily promoting the REEV option, which is believed to combine the best of both the electrified and petrol worlds, requiring owners to refuel only twice a year when charging the SUV weekly.
According to NETA, the REEV promises more economical commutes thanks to its revolutionary HOZI 2.0 range extender system. It provides seamless and silent functionality when combined with the 91HP 1.5L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine. NETA touts this setup in boasting a fuel economy of 4.85 L/100 KM and an fuel-to-electricity efficiency of 3.26 kWh/L. The electric motor meanwhile will provide an output of 227HP.
Two battery choices are available - 30 kWh and 40 kWh. Each promises driving ranges of up to 220 KM and 310 KM respectively. NETA adds that fast-charging is available, taking just 19 minutes to re-charge from 30% to 80%. Impressive too is the REEV’s claimed driving range of up to 1,300KM.
In order to accomplish charging efficiency and comfort, it makes use of the sophisticated Hozon EPT4.0 constant temperature thermal management tech, which guarantees users' freedom of movement. Furthermore, the NETA L EV would be the first model globally to be equipped with CATL's ShenXing L Series battery.
As for the chassis, the NETA L adopts a five-link independent rear suspension system, which is paired with an aluminium MacPherson strut assembly up front. Furthermore, this crossover also boasts a respectably tight 5.37-metre turning radius.
For extended travels, the NETA L's cabin space lives up to expectations while being “homely” with the addition of a 15.6-inch infotainment display. The passenger and driver seats are both electrically adjustable. There are ten adjustment options for the driver's seat, and a 123-degree angle for the passenger seat.
In addition, the passenger seat has four-way leg supports, four-way lumbar adjustments, memory, ventilation, heating, and massaging capabilities. Together with a boss key and a foldable passenger side table, it also features one-touch SPA mode. Also included is a 6.6-litre mini refrigerator next to the centre console.
Meanwhile, there are two backrest angle adjustments and heating (backrest + cushion) on the backseats. Only eco-friendly, baby-safe materials, like OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 leather, are used in the NETA L's interior.
NETA L also boasts up to 33 storage compartments in all, including a 16-litre glove box and a 530-litre boot that can be expanded to 1,434 litres, making it ideal for overnight sleepovers while travelling. In addition, the NETA L has handy charging alternatives all over the car, such as a 3.3 kW V2L external power output, a 12-volt power outlet in the trunk, a 50-watt air-cooled wireless fast charging slot, and dual 60-watt Type-C fast charging ports in front and at the back.
NETA Auto intends to introduce the L SUV in more than 20 countries during the second half of 2024. With regards to Malaysia, only the Aya and X are scheduled for launch this year and next by NETA Auto Malaysia. Nevertheless, it is reasonable to believe that the L will undoubtedly be brought here in accordance with the Automaker’s global plans.
