Following the tragic cases of "forgotten baby syndrome"  (FBS) that have occurred recently, the state of Selangor and a city council are taking proactive measures to prevent parents from abandoning their children in a parked car by launching a campaign called  “Children’s Safety in Car and Family Wellbeing”
A few of the preventive measures implemented include the distribution of vehicle stickers and the posting of announcements on digital billboards and over public square speakers.
In the initial stage, 10,000 stickers would be given out at government agency locations. A second phase entails the distribution of fifty thousand stickers to businesses. Additionally, flyers about avoiding FBS will be given out. 2657060.jpeg

“Our hearts go out to these parents who have lost a child this way, especially since it is preventable,” said Selangor women and family empowerment, welfare and care economy committee chairman Anfaal Saari during the campaign launch in Hospital Selayang.
The state government is also considering launching initiatives to supplement current policies. One solution is to provide designated parking spaces for parents at hotspots such as hospitals and government buildings.
The campaign's third phase, which will begin in October, focuses on identifying long-term solutions and addressing the underlying causes of the issue. It's time for automakers to mandate that all newly built cars have sensor technology installed that will notify the driver.
Inspector Natalie Anak Allin, a Selangor police officer, suggested that parents check the back seat or use their smartphones to send a reminder to drop their child off at the daycare center to lessen the possibility of inadvertently leaving a child in the car after they park the vehicle. 2656619.jpg

Public service announcements (PSA) will be launched by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) to remind drivers to "look behind" and make sure no child is in the back seat before getting out of the car.

To stop FBS, Mayor Cheremi Tarman told StarMetro that the city council would shortly begin playing a public service announcement over 50 loudspeakers that are connected to MBSA's closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
