- Merdeka 118 Adopts Blueshark R1 EV Smart Scooter Fleet
A 14-unit fleet of Blueshark R1 EV scooters were recently handed over to PNBMV - the firm responsible for the operations and upkeep of the Merdeka 118 tower in Kuala Lumpur.
PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd (PNBMV), builders of the Merdeka 118 tower in Kuala Lumpur, recently took delivery of a fleet of Blueshark R1 all-electric (EV) smart scooters from its makers and distributors Sharkgulf Technologies Group.
A special handover ceremony was held at the tower, renowned as the world’s second talent building, earlier this month. A total of 18 units of the Blueshark R1 electric scooters were delivered by Sharkgulf Technologies Group, thus signaling the start of a landmark e-mobility collaboration with PNBMV.
Said 18 units of the Blueshark R1 are being leased by PNBMV over a period of three years. The firm is set to deploy these all-electric two-wheelers to mobilise essential personnel operating at the tower that manage and operate its facilities.
These include staff serving in the tower’s car park, common facilities, base facilities, merdeka utilities, as well as the Polis Bantuan (Auxiliary Police) officers patrolling the premise.
PNBMV is poised to mobilise essential personnel responsible for operating and managing facilities and operation at the Merdeka 118 tower using the Blueshark R1 e-scooters pictured.
“PNBMV and Blueshark both have shared values in sustainability and environmental responsibility. Blueshark’s first-to-last mile sustainable e-mobility ecosystem will enable PNBMV and its employees to reduce their carbon footprint and live healthier lives in the pursuit of their ESG goals,” expressed Jeff Chong, Group CEO (ASEAN), Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd during the handover.
“We are excited to use Blueshark e-bikes as we move towards electromobility. The Blueshark R1 offers emission-free transportation, aligning with our goal of climate neutrality. Blueshark's Vehicle & Backend Telematics will also provide valuable data for PNBMV's carbon reporting, helping us meet our green mobility goals,” adds Tengku Datuk Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, CEO of PNBMV.
This milestone leasing collaboration follow up from a similar effort by Sharkgulf Technologies Group where it had recently supplied a fleet of its R1 scooters to the local recycling concern Klean the World, albeit at a smaller scale of just four units.
Sharkgulf Technologies Group had recently expanded its BlueStation battery swap station across the Klang Valley.
More critically, the firm had expanded its BlueStation battery swap stations network, and it remains committed to expand this further from 15 locations to a total of 50 locations by end of this year.

Presently, Sharkgulf Technologies Group offers the Blueshark R1 locally across two variants, priced from RM7,190 sans on-road costs and battery subscription plan.
