The updated 2024 Porsche Taycan has made its official landfall in Malaysia.

Porsche Malaysia, represented by Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), has officially presented the newly-updated 2024 Porsche Taycan to the Malaysian market. Now available for booking, the new Taycan features numerous modifications from the previous model, all catered to deliver a better driving experience.

For the Malaysian market, the 2024 Taycan arrives in two body styles, namely the sporty sedan and the fastback Cross Turismo version, with the former featuring four powertrain options, while the latter is offered in three. Starting with the base Taycan, this model is powered by an updated rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 402 HP.

This setup allows for a swiffer 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 4.8 seconds – which is six tenths faster than the previous version. Thanks to its larger 105-kWh battery pack courtesy of the Performance Battery Plus pack, the base Taycan now boasts a decent WLTP range of 678 KM.

Further up the line is the Taycan 4S, which features a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup rated at 537 HP for a faster century sprint time of 3.7 seconds and 643 KM of max EV range.

Newly-updated Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo

Moving on to the Turbo variants, the Taycan Turbo’s 872 HP-rated motor setup is good for a 2.7 seconds century sprint time, while the Turbo S model gets a peppier 919 HP-rated motor setup, shortening its century sprint time to just 2.4 seconds. Despite their bonkers performance, both the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S still boast a decent WLTP range of 630 KM – a significant improvement from the previous models’ 467 KM claimed range.

Besides peppier driving performance, all variants of the new Taycan also benefit from faster charging performance, which has been upgraded from 270 kW to 320 kW. This allows the new Taycan to be charged from 10-80% in just 18 minutes, which is quite fast for a large battery. Also improved here is the regenerative braking performance, which is 30% more powerful than before at 400 kW rate.

To compensate for the bigger battery pack, Porsche engineers have designed the new Taycan to be 15 KG lighter than the previous model. Other mechanical improvements present here include the standard air suspension, as well as several optional packages such as the Porsche Active Ride roll stabilisation, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with an electronic locking rear differential, rear wheel steering, and carbon ceramic brakes.

Now available for purchase, the all-new, 2024 Porsche Taycan starts at RM575,000 for the baseline Taycan sedan model, RM675,000 for the Taycan 4S, RM905,000 for the Taycan Turbo, and RM1.06 million for the Taycan Turbo S. Meanwhile, the Taycan Cross Turismo range starts at RM625,000 for the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, RM700,000 for the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, and RM915,000 for the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo.

Regardless of variants, all 2024 Taycan models come standard with a 4-year vehicle warranty, a comprehensive 4-year maintenance package, plus an 8-year warranty for its battery system.

On top of that, Taycan owners in Malaysia are also entitled to a complimentary platinum membership with special charging rates and benefits with Shell Recharge, where they can enjoy charging services at any Shell Recharge EV chargers with a discounted rate, as well as complimentary high-performance charging  at any Porsche Centres in Malaysia.
