- F1 Movie Teaser Trailer Hits The Web Ahead Of 2025 Release
A long-awaited feature film centred on the elite sport of Formula 1 (F1, Formula One) racing is a step closer to silver screen. As part of the festivities of last weekend’s F1 British Grand Prix, the first teaser trailer to the film, simply titled as ‘F1’ presently, was released on the internet.
Suffice to say it, the reception for said teaser has been positive to say the least, and that’s despite it rather short 1 min 45 sec length. The film stars American actor Brad Pitt – who also produces this flick – alongside British actor Damson Idris, and its released date is set for June 25, 2025.
Backed by both tech giant Apple and Warner Bros. Pictures, Pitt produces this film alongside Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Charged with directing this flick is Joseph Kosinski who also directed Top Gun: Maverick.
F1 stars Brad Pitt (first from right) and British actor Damson Idris (second from right). Pitt also co-produces the film with Jery Bruckheimer and seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton.
In the film, Pitt portrays a fictional former F1 driver Sonny Hayes who comes out of retirement to race for the fictional APXGP team alongside rookie driver Joshua Pearce, the latter played by Idris. Much of the racing were filmed in real world locations, some during actual F1 race weekend too.
Regarding the latter, both Pitt and Idris drove Formula 2 racecars dressed up F1 machines at selected F1 race weekends this season. In fact, Pitt and Idris were also filmed standing on the grid during these races alongside real F1 drivers prior to the race start.
The extent of the film’s realism is also reflected at how the APXGP team was shown to be a full fledged one featuring their own garage brimmed with data screens, as well as a small army of mechanics and pit crew. Reports also indicate that this level of real world filming at races will continue this year too.
The extent of the film's realism goes to the point where the fictional APXGP team is depicted into having a full-fledged garage with data screens plus an army of mechanics and pit crew.
Both Pitt and Idris were also filmed driving F2 cars dressed up as F1 machines at real world circuits and locations, and during actual F1 race weekends too.
Aptly, the upcoming F1 movie builds on the success F1 experienced through the dramatised yet groundbreaking Drive To Survive docuseries on Netflix. Co-producer Hamilton were amongst many who touted the film’s realism, in which he says will “blow people away.”
Judging, from the teaser footage, we cannot disagree said claims made by the seven-time title winner and lead driver for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team who, coincidentally, took an unprecedented victory in last weekend’s British Grand Prix held at the iconic Silverstone circuit.
No other details were disclosed surrounding the film’s plot, but there’s the promise of a compelling story arc. For now, your guess is as good as ours, that is until we finally watch the screening once F1 releases next year…
