- One-Off Pagani Huayra Epitome Gets A Seven-Speed Manual
The one-off Pagani Huayra Epitome is the first Huayra model to get a seven-speed manual transmission.
Pagani has unveiled a new one-off model known as the Huayra Epitome. Set to debut at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024, this special model is the first Huayra ever to be equipped with a manual transmission.
Unlike other Huayras, the special Huayra Epitome gets a seven-speed manual transmission.
The Epitome’s stick-shift comes in the form of a seven-speed manual gearbox built by Xtrac, featuring a stunning open gate design just like we’ve seen on the Huayra’s automatic unit. According to Pagani, this seven-speed unit features the “latest triple-disc clutch for better torque transmission, with an electronically managed differential and a racing-derived tripod joint system ensuring greater engine responsiveness.”
The one-off Huayra Epitome is still motivated by the same AMG-sourced twin-turbo V12 mill
Just like other Huayra models, however, the Xtrac seven-speed unit is mated to a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine sourced from Mercedes-AMG that delivers 852 HP and 1,100 NM. These figures allow the Huayra Epitome to hit an electronically limited V-Max of 350 KM/H, while the century sprint finish depends on how fast and diligently you can operate the seven-speed manual box.
Besides the seven-speed unit and the twelve-pot mill, the Huayra Epitome also benefits from other mechanical upgrades. These include a revised suspension geometry that helps to reduce dive in acceleration and roll in corners, plus a new active suspension system that features a “super soft” mode for extra ride comfort on bumpy roads and better everyday use.
Visually, the Huayra Epitome separates itself from the other standard Huayras thanks to its unique blue-hued carbon fibre body. Also features at the exterior are the new front bumper featuring an integrated front splitter that helps to provide extra downforce, plus larger air intakes, new inner ducts, and special LED headlights.
Aside from the tweaked front end, the Huayra Epitome also features ventilated front fenders and a unique rear end thanks to its integrated rear wing. Also present at the back are the aerodynamically-optimised taillight covers and a six-way titanium exhaust system that helps its V12 mill sing.
Rounding off the exterior bits are the special forged aluminium monolithic wheels the Epitome rides on, with their design inspired by the ones used on the previous special Huayra variant known as the Imola. For maximum grip, said forged wheels are shod in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R.
Calling the Huayra Epitome’s interior a work of art isn’t doing it any justice, as it features a distinctive design that is unique to Pagani cars. Besides the aforementioned open gate gearbox design, the Epitome’s cabin blends a slew of carbon fibre trims with exquisite leather upholstery, with the latter finished in the signature tan hue.
To bring this one-off special alive, Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni division spent months designing and building the Epitome. Working hand-in-hand with the client, the company said the initial conceptualisation phase alone lasted for nine months, followed by ten months of design and development.
