- July 2024 Sees 24% Growth in New Vehicle Sales – MAA
According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), sales of new cars increased by 11% in July 2024, total industry volume (TIV) coming in at 71,730 units as opposed to 64,790 units during the same time previous year. Passenger vehicles accounted for 65,781 units, while commercial vehicles saw only 5,949 units sold.
The association stated that the longer working month and the introduction of new models are the main causes of this increase in TIV.
Moving on to vehicle production volume, 70,295 units were produced in July, compared to 66,862 units the previous month. However, the year-to-date production figure tells a different story, with production volume increasing by 8% in July 2024.
As for the August 2024 outlook, MAA expects both sales and production to maintain its momentum with National day promotional campaigns by some car companies.
