The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team celebrates the 50th anniversary of its title partner Petronas with special livery.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One (F1) team celebrates the 50th anniversary of its title partner—national oil and gas company Petronas—by unveiling a special livery on its Mercedes-AMG Q15 E Performance F1 race car.

Since the Malaysian Grand Prix shows no sign of coming back to the F1’s calendar, this special livery will instead make its racing debut in our neighbouring republic, Singapore, with the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix set to take place later this weekend on Sept 22.

More details on this special livery, the W15 E Performance F1 car is now prominently coloured in Petronas’ signature teal hue, with the whole top-half and both the side pods of the car now draped in this colour, leaving only the two wings and the lower part of the car in black. Besides the teal paint job, the special livery also features commemorative 50th anniversary logos on both the front and rear wings.

The Mercedes-AMG W15 with the Petronas 50 livery might be the last special livery Mercedes F1 car to be driven by Lewis Hamilton.

The Singapore Grand Prix has always been the choice for local motorsport fans to catch on the F1 action since the dissolution of the Malaysian Grand Prix back in 2018, so it is only fitting that both Mercedes and Petronas outfield this special livery for this grand prix. Ultimately, this might also be the last special livery Mercedes F1 to be driven by seven-time World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, with the Brit set to swap the Petronas teal for Scarlet Red next year as he makes his move to join Scuderia Ferrari from 2025 onwards.

In conjunction with the Singapore Grand Prix, the whole Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team circus will be making several stops in Malaysia after the race weekend as part of the celebration parade for Petronas’ 50th anniversary. This could also be the last chance for Malaysian motorsport fans to meet and greet Lewis, as this will probably be his last official visit to Malaysia ahead of his move to the Maranello outfit. Joining alongside Lewis for this tour will be fellow Mercedes driver and compatriot George Russell, as well as the team principal and CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, Toto Wolff.

The partnership between Petronas and Mercedes-AMG started all the way back in 2010, where the national oil and gas company played an integral role in the performance development of the F1 outfit. This partnership is synonymous with the team’s dominance during the first hybrid-turbo era of F1, where they have won eight consecutive World Constructors’ titles and eight World Drivers’ titles, as well as numerous race wins and podium finishes.
