Launched: W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class – Two CKD Variants, From RM355K
The long-awaited W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class debuts today, featuring two variants priced from RM355,888 onwards.
Following a lengthy teaser campaign, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) has finally launched the long-awaited sixth-gen (W214) Mercedes-Benz E-Class executive saloon. For our market, the W214 E-Class is available in two locally-assembled (CKD) variants, with prices starting from RM355,888 onwards.
On the surface, the new W214 E-Class sports a striking new design while retaining a traditional three-box sedan layout. New key design features present here include the new LED headlights and taillights, with the latter featuring unique lighting signatures that mimic the marque’s signature three-point star motif, flushed door handles a la Mercedes Benz EQE saloon, and many more.

Differentiating the two variants is the presence of the AMG Line package, which comes standard with the up-specced E350e variant. Said package grants the E350e model some other AMG Line-specific parts, such as a sportier body kit with a slew of chrome trim, bigger 20-inch AMG alloy wheels, and many more.
In terms of size, the W214 has grown a little over its W213 predecessor, sitting 4,949 MM long, 1,880 MM wide, and 1,468 MM tall. The wheelbase now measures 2,961 MM, marking a 20 MM increase over the W213, translating into greater passenger space plus a bigger 540-litre boot space too.
Special for the top-spec W214 E350e AMG Line variant is the new MBUX Hypercreen layout.
On board, the new W214 model is billed as the “most connected E-Class” yet, thanks to the new MBUX Superscreen layout comprising a 12.3-inch instrument display, a 14.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, and an optional 12.3-inch touchscreen for the front passenger, as well as the Digital Vehicle Key function that allows vehicle access via personal mobile devices.
As per any Mercedes-Benz model, the W214 is decked with tons of luxury amenities, with key highlights including the Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel, fully-electric front seats wrapped in ARTICO man-made leather upholstery, open-pore wood veneers, and a dual-zone multi-colour ambient lighting system, to name a few. Opting for the E350e AMG Line sees the W214 cabin decked in additional AMG Line parts such as the AMG floor mats, AMG sporty pedal shifters, and more.
W214 Mercedes-Benz E200 MHEV
As we mentioned earlier, the W214 E-Class will be offered in two powertrain flavours for our market, both of which are electrified in nature. Starting with the baseline E200, this model uses a familiar 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbocharged M254 mill rated at 204 PS and 320 NM that is augmented with a 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) integrated starter-generator (ISG) rated at 23 PS and 205 NM. All these powers are sent to the rear wheels (RWD) via a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox.
Meanwhile, the top-spec E350e model gets a peppier plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup that comprises the same 2.0-litre M254 engine as the E200, but instead being paired with a peppier e-motor setup rated at 129 PS and 440 NM to deliver a total system output of 313 PS and 550 NM. Drive is also sent to the rear wheels (RWD) via a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox.
Unlike many other PHEVs out there, the W214 E350e comes with an on-board DC charger at up to 55 kW.
Additionally, the E350e also comes with a 25.4-kWh battery pack that delivers up to 115 KM of EV-only range, plus a stellar combined fuel consumption of 6.6-7.5 litres per 100 KM, Mercedes-Benz claims. Thanks to the presence of a 55 kW on-board DC charger, said battery pack can be fully-charged in just 30 minutes.
Over on to the driver assistance tech, the W214 E-Class gets a bevy of which. Included in the list now are Active Distance Assist, Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Parking Package with Reverse Camera, and Speed Limit Assist. Additionally, Attention Assist now adds a driver distraction alert to warn drivers acoustically and visually, while the Driving Assistance Plus is offered as an option, which adds Active Steering Assist as a lane-keeping function.
Now available for purchase, the all-new W214 Mercedes-Benz E-Class CKD starts at RM355,888 for the baseline E200 Avantgarde variant, while the top-spec E350e AMG Line is tagged higher at RM418,888. Included with said prices are the standard 4-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty offered by MBM, plus a longer 8-year or 160,000 KM battery warranty for the E305e PHEV model.
