Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) continues to expand the seventh generation S-Class (W/V223) range locally. This week, the flagship limousine’s range welcomes a new addition in the form of the Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic Night Series.
Unlike the refreshed localised (CKD) and electrified S580e PHEV variant announced back in Sept this year, this fully imported (CBU) offering arguably stands as the most opulent iteration of the long-wheelbased (V223) S-Class officially on sale in Malaysia.
Given that last fact, this Maybach-badged range-topper commands the highest price tag over its two stablemates – RM2,404,888. We’ll remind you that the Maybach badge supposedly puts this Merc limo in league with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
Should you be a discerning UHNWI – emphasis on the ‘U’ – seeking a new runabout to be chauffeured in, then pay attention.
This now arguably stands as the most opulent and priciest iteration of the long-wheelbased seventh-gen (V223) S-Class model officially on sale in Malaysia.

Firstly, the Maybach S580 Night Series is respectably quick despite its size and bulk. Much of this stems form the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol heart it packs, boasting 503 hp and 700 Nm to enable 0-100 km/h dashes in just 4.8 secs.
What enables said century sprint ability too are both the 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD) and slick 9-speed automatic transmission. Of course, performance is merely a by-product to this opulent four-door limousine.
Comfort is guaranteed through the chassis’ adoption of the three-point star’s Airmatic air suspension suite bolstered by adaptive dampers. For added agility, this variant also sees rear-axle steering suite primed as standard kit.
The real highlight to the Maybach S580 Night Series isn't performance, but its blacked-out twist to its luxe and opulence both inside and out.

Of course, the key highlight of this range-topper is the Night Series aesthetics treatment it’s brimmed with. This brings dark chrome elements, a range of exclusive two-tone exterior paintwork options, plus dark metallic chrome and rose gold headlight accents, amongst many key traits.
Other Night Series touches even include high-gloss black finishes for the beltline, window surrounds, B-pillar, side mirror caps, exclusive 20-inch Maybach 7-spoke wheels in black and dark shadow gloss finishes, and special illuminate door sills.

The Night Series treatment really stands out in this S-Class' interior, bringing a darker attitude to things.

On board, the Night Series-treated Maybach S580 sees its cabin elevated by ‘Garnet Glow’ active ambient lighting, dark brown open-pore walnut wood trim, Maybach-specific black crystal-look centre console trim, dark shadow gloss air vents, and more touches with similar motif.
Of course, much of this can still be customised, provided you’ve got the extra Ringgits to spare for which through the Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur individualisation program. This can also be done virtually online via this link.
For reference, this new Maybach-badged variant costs nearly four-times that of the localised (CKD) yet 'lesser' S580e PHEV variant pictured that was announced back in Sept this year.

As usual, MBM’s standard 4-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage comes included in the price stated earlier.
Would you be willing to shell out nearly four times the price of the localised S580e variant noted for this more opulent choice? Share your take in the comments below…
