- Lynk & Co Teases First Mobile Phone, Co-Developed with Meizu
Chinese automaker Lynk & Co is about to delve themselves into the tech world, as the Geely-owned brand is poised to launch its first mobile phone. Cordially named the Lynk & Co Phone Pro, this mobile device was co-developed with renowned Chinese tech brand Meizu.
The partnership between the two firms goes way back from this upcoming mobile phone, as both Geely and Meizu previously collaborated to create the Flyme Auto OS for a bunch of Geely models, including several Lynk & Co models and the Geely Galaxy E5 (Proton e.MAS 7).
The Lynk & Co Phone Pro was teased as the brand’s first mobile phone model, co-developed with Meizu.
The first dibs on the brand’s new mobile phone came from the top, where Lynk & Co sales GM Lin Jie shared a photo captured with the Phone Pro. Shown in the information block of the photo is the official name of this product, plus the specifications of its camera, which features a 24-mm lens with an f/1.9 aperture.
Meizu 20 smartphone
As pointed out by CarNewsChina, the camera specs of the Lynk & Co Phone Pro are quite similar to the Meizu 20 smartphone. As Meizu’s flagship smartphone, the M20 has a 6.55-inch screen and a 50-megapixel camera, while being powered by a 12 GB Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. More importantly, the Phone Pro is expected to feature some integration with any Lynk & Co models that run on the Flyme Auto OS.
Not to forget, Lynk & Co’s decision to base its first mobile phone on the Meizu 20 is not a coincidence, since Polestar—yet another auto brand owned by Geely—also uses the M20 for its first mobile phone, the Polestar Phone.
The Lynk & Co Phone Pro is set to be launched in its native Chinese market some time later this month, possibly alongside the Lynk & Co Z10 EV saloon. Should the phone garner rave reception in the Chinese market, there’s a chance that we’ll get to see Proton’s tech arm ACO Tech adopting the same mobile phone strategy for the upcoming Proton e.MAS 7, which might also run on the Flyme Auto OS.
