- Mark Zuckerberg’s Custom Porsche Cayenne Minivan
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg - predictably - took to social media to unveil a unique, custom-built Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Minivan.
The vehicle, designed and built by the “famed” tuning house West Coast Customs, was reportedly commissioned by Zuckerberg for his wife, Priscilla Chan.
In a striking matching set, Zuckerberg himself opted for a Porsche GT3 Touring with a manual box, sharing the same colorway as the custom minivan.
This unexpected transformation of a luxury performance SUV into a minivan garnered much attention, not only because of the choice of tuner but also due to Porsche’s apparent endorsement. Zuckerberg’s post saw the German brand’s official handle tagged in it, suggesting it may have given its approval for this extraordinary modification.
Typically, premium auto marques like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche maintain strict oversight of their designs, often frowning upon extreme alterations by third-party tuners. You need not look past cases like Ferrari ordering renowned electronic musician Deadmau5 to revert his 458 Spider back to stock following a controversial exterior wrap he had chosen.
However, it seems being the head honcho of the social media world, it seems, privileges were extended for him to reimagine his luxury vehicle.
While the idea of a Porsche minivan may raise eyebrows, this isn’t the first time the concept has surfaced. Back in 2012, Porsche toyed with the idea of expanding its lineup to include a minivan named Porsche Renndienst. The design was part of a broader discussion within the automotive world about luxury minivans, but the concept never fully materialised.
However, this custom build revives the conversation, potentially signalling an intriguing new direction for Porsche enthusiasts who want a mix of luxury and practicality.
Despite Porsche’s focus on performance, the brand has demonstrated flexibility in embracing different vehicle categories, such as the Cayenne, Macan, and Taycan models. These have expanded Porsche’s appeal beyond traditional sportscars, so a minivan might not be entirely out of the question for the future.
Zuckerberg’s custom Cayenne minivan could be a hint of what’s possible when in the brand's future lineup switch.
What’s equally surprising about this build is Zuckerberg’s choice of West Coast Customs, a tuning house who have been flagged in recent years for dramatic builds fit for TV rather than actual daily drives.
While this collaboration might raise eyebrows among car purists, Zuckerberg’s choice shows a willingness to step outside the boundaries of social technology and push the limits of automotive design?
For now, details surrounding the specifications of Zuckerberg’s custom minivan are limited, but serves as a bold reminder of what’s possible when ambition, privilege, and cutting-edge design intersect. Keep an eye out for more updates as this custom creation makes waves in both the tech and automotive worlds.
