Automaking giants Stellantis are poised to expand its regional footprint with a new regional parts hub situated here in Malaysia.

Automaking giant Stellantis is poised to ramp up its regional efforts. Earlier today, the firm issued a press release locally confirming its plans to establish a new regional parts hub in Malaysia. This new hub is set to be an extension of its existing production operations in Gurun, Kedah, albeit from a separate new location.

Set to be operational by the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, the new regional parts hub aims to meet and cater to the growing demands of around 20 countries in the region - Malaysia included.

Stellantis adds this upcoming new hub is also part of the firm’s strategy to enhance its aftersales service by reducing downtime and ensuring efficient access and availability of automotive parts and components to dealers and customers.

This new regional parts hub, which is set to start operating from Q1 2025, will serve to ALL Stellantis brands, key amongst which being Peugeot, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, RAM, Leapmotor and more.

As for the brands this hub is set to service, Stellantis confirmed that it will house parts and components for ALL its brands. Key amongst which are Peugeot, Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, RAM, Leapmotor and more.

"Strategically located in a Free Trade Zone in Malaysia, this regional warehouse will allow us to improve parts availability, reduce lead time and enhance the overall service efficiency,” said Olivier Torchet, Head of Parts & Services, Stellantis India & Asia Pacific

Torchet also added that the upcoming new regional parts hub will enable the firm to respond quickly to growing customer needs whilst also ensuring the receive high levels of after-sales support.

Presumably, this new regional parts hub will be established as an extension of Stellantis' existing production base in Gurun, Kedah.

“We are here to stay and are dedicated to enhancing customer experience, service delivery and operational efficiency with this new hub that will serve both Malaysia and the wider region,” adds Stellantis ASEAN COO Daneil Gonzalez, who also acknowledged India and Asia Pacific region is the third growth engine for Stellantis.

Moreover, this move also aligns with efforts by Stellantis towards building the foundation for its “Built in ASEAN for ASEAN” roadmap in Malaysia. This initiative began when the firm acquired the former Naza Group factory in Gurun, Kedah mentioned earlier back in 2021.

Since then, Stellantis has been working towards maximizing this facility’s output for both domestic and export markets around the ASEAN region. Following which came the establishment of the Stellantis Malaysia National Sales Company earlier this year as well.

The new regional parts hub is also widely tipped to bolster Stellantis Malaysia's efforts at rebooting other brands such as Citroën, Alfa Romeo, Jeep.

The latter stands as the official entity directing and managing marketing, sales, distribution and after-sales of all Stellantis brands in Malaysia. To date though, the firm currently has two active brands in the local market – Peugeot and, more recently, Leapmotor.

Expect this new regional parts hub to play a critical role for Stellantis Malaysia’s efforts to reboot and introduce more brands into the local market. Amongst the marques promised here include Citroën and Jeep.
