Soon, you will not be able to say you “forgot” to renew your road tax as a reason to wiggle your way out of a fine.

That’s because the MyJPJ mobile app is set to include notification reminders for road tax renewals as part of its upcoming updates. This was announced by Transport Minister Anthony Loke during the Dewan Rakyat session earlier today.

This enhancement is a part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts which began in Feb last year to digitalise the Road Transport Department (JPJ) services and will be rolled-out once fully developed and ready for use.

Loke further added that the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and JPJ is committed to continuously improving the MyJPJ app to enhance online service delivery for the public. Once such effort was the introduction of road tax (LKM) and driving licences (LMM) renewal directly via the app.

Additionally, in response to complaints about using vehicles owned by others, the MyJPJ app had also introduced a “Share LKM” function, allowing owners to digitally share their road tax.

During his speech, Loke also confirmed that further improvements to the app will be rolled out in phases, with priorities based on necessity and cost.
