- Launched: 2025 Toyota Camry - Single Variant From RM 248,800
UMW Toyota (UMWT) has officially launched the ninth-generation Toyota Camry at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024), which features significant technical improvements and, most importantly, the model is now available with a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain.
The Malaysian-market Camry is available in only one variant, the 2.5 HEV, which starts at RM 248,800.
The Camry features a striking new design influenced by the Toyota Crown and Prius, with a Hammerhead front fascia, redesigned bumper, and grille. Additional enhancements include 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic glass top.
Customers can select from six premium colours, including new options such as Cement Grey, Dark Blue Mica, Precious Metal, and Emotional Red, as well as classic favourites like Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black.
Built on Toyota's TNGA-K platform, it has a redesigned suspension for better handling than its predecessor. The 2025 Camry hybrid variant, on the other hand, is equipped with the 2.5-liter Toyota Hybrid System 5 (THS), which combines a 2.5L, 4-cylinder Dynamic Force engine (188 PS, 221 Nm) with an electric motor to produce a total output of 227 horsepower.
These are then combined with an E-CVT automatic gearbox to power the front wheels. The hybrid system now uses a lighter 1.006 kWh lithium-ion battery instead of the old nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) unit.
Aftersales service includes a 5-year unlimited mileage guarantee and an 8-year unlimited mileage warranty for the hybrid battery, inverter, and power management ECU. UMWT also offers a two-year warranty extension for the hybrid system for an extra cost.
