New for 2025, the new G81-gen BMW M3 CS Touring gains the 'Competition Sport' (CS) treatment as seen its M3 saloon and M4 Coupe twins.

German automaker BMW saw its M performance division take the wraps off its latest metal in the form of the new M3 CS Touring this week. Aptly, this is the existing G81-gen super-estate from Bavaria that’s been given the M division’s ‘Competition Sport’ – hence the ‘CS’ name – treatment.

The latter results in the fastest and most powerful BMW M-bafged family estate ever built. In other words, this is made for those seeking a plush, spacious and practical family-mover packed with ballistic continent-crossing speed.

With the CS treatment, this now stands as the quickest and most powerful estate model to bear the BMW and M badges to date.

Obviously, the M3 CS Touring has both the rivalling Audi RS4 Avant and controversially electrified Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance Estate in its crosshairs. Much of this Bimmer’s advantage stems from the added performance, speed and sharpened ancillaries primed.

Similar to  its CS-treated M3 saloon and M4 Coupe siblings, this version of the M3 Touring sees its 3.0-litre straight 6-cyl turbo mill benefitting with turbochargers boosted up to 30 psi. In turn, this raises power by 20HP to 543 HP whilst torque reads at 650 NM.

Heightened powertrain aside, the CS package also brings an enhanced chassis with uprated suspension plus beefier brakes, not forgetting a sport exhaust system too.

The bonus here is the promise of a stellar and menacing soundtrack to match. That's because primed in this powertrain too now is a performance exhaust system boasting both adjustable valves plus a titanium rear silencer.

Paired with a slick 8-speed automatic transmission, xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) and the M Driver’s Package, the M3 CS Touring boasts a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 3.5 secs, whereas 0-200 KM/H dashes take a mere 11.7 secs. V-max, on the other hand, stands at 300 KM/H.

Altogether, the enhanced performance hardware plus the M Driver's Package sees 543 HP and 650 NM outputs enable 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 3.5 secs, 0-200 KM/H in 11.5 secs, and a 300 KM/H V-Max.

Of course, the CS treatment isn’t limited to the powertrain. Elsewhere, it brings tweaked electronically-controlled dampers, enhanced and more rigid front-end strut brace, as well as beefier brakes with the option for carbon ceramic rotors.

Additionally, the CS treatment also brings a slew of weight reduction through carbon fibre parts like the hood, front splitter, air intakes, side mirror caps and rear diffuser. Altogether, these have slashed this super-estate’s weight down by 15 KG.

Changes on board are highlighted by new power-adjustable and heated M Carbon bucket seats, illuminated CS badges, plus an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

Visually, what’s new here is the kidney grille, which now sports a more open design with sharper surfaces – this mirrors what seen in the M3 CS and M4 CS mentioned. New too are the yellow-tinted LED DRLs flanking said grille, new rear lip spoiler, plus lightweight 19-inch (front) and 20-inch (rear) M alloy wheels.

On board, the M3 CS Touring sees its cabin laced with power-adjustable and heated M Carbon bucket seats, illuminated CS badges, as well as an M-specfic Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. Apart from which, all else remains relatively unchanged from the regular M3 Touring.

Exterior changes are few, but some are distinct like the yellow-tinted LED DRLs. What is new here too is the signature kidney grille.

Presently BMW hasn’t disclosed how many units of the new M3 CS Touring detailed will produce. Instead, it confirmed that first deliveries in key markets starts as early as March this year.

On that note, despite the standard variant’s availability in neighbouring Thailand and Singapore, it remains uncertain if BMW Group Malaysia will add the G81-gen M3 Touring into its local line-up

Could things perhaps change with this new CS-badged special? Hit the comments below if you think the firm should finally consider offering the G81 super-estate locally then…
