The West Coast Expressway (WCE) opens its Section 2 stretch from the SKVE Interchange to the SAE Interchange starting today, 22 Jan, at 12:01 AM. This newly launched 7.2 KM stretch will be toll-free until 22 Feb 2025.

The stretch was officially inaugurated recently by Works Minister, Datuk Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi. This new section provides a convenient alternative route connecting Banting to Shah Alam, Klang, Putrajaya, Kajang, KLIA, and beyond, with direct links to the SKVE and KESAS highways.

It will complement the existing stretch from Banting to the SKVE Interchange, which opened on 31 Aug 2024, significantly reducing travel time between Shah Alam, Banting, and KLIA.

The improved 314.5 KM WCE will connect Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak, boosting mobility, attracting investments to industrial areas such as Pulau Indah and Telok Panglima Garang, and supporting cargo transport with strategic links to Port Klang. It also aims to ease congestion on major highways and enhance domestic tourism.

The minister also encourages the public to use this alternative route to help reduce traffic congestion during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday season.

In addition to the WCE Section 2 stretch launch, DC Handal activated its latest DC Fast Charging (DCFC) station at the WCE Section 2 Toll Plaza. This facility is accessible to both North and South bound traffic

With this, DC Handal now has four DCFC stations along the WCE, including Assam Jawa, Taiping, Trong, and the latest Section 2.

The Section 2 station will be powered by a single 240 kW Autel Cabinet with cable management system and a dual-gun arrangement. This Autel dynamic DC charger adjusts its output based on the connected EV's state of charge (SOC) and number of EV connected.

The rate for charging at this station is fixed at RM1.30 per kWh. As usual, DC Handal’s stations accept debit and credit card payments, as well as MyDebit, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and alternate virtual payments via the JomCharge and ChargEV apps.
