New DC Handal 400 kW DCFC Station At WCE Trong Toll Plaza - RM1.50/kWh
Recently, both DC Handal and West Coast Expressway (WCE) activated their DC fast charging (DCFC) facility at the Trong Toll Plaza. A quick check on Plugshare confirmed this, with a review already posted by a Porsche Taycan owner.
This new facility sits just 14 KM from the recently launched WCE Taiping Selatan Toll Plaza DC Handal facility. A notable advantage of the Trong charging facility is its accessibility to both north and southbound traffic.
This development highlights WCE's commitment to rapid EV charging infrastructure growth. To date, there are already three locations along the WCE offering DCFC services, with the third being the DCFC station at Assam Jawa toll plaza.
The Trong facility, like the other stations along WCE, is powered by Kempower DC units. It features a setup similar to the WCE Taiping DCFC, comprising a 400 kW satellite-style Kempower arrangement. Notably, the WCE Highway now houses two DCFC stations with the fastest liquid-cooled charging nozzles in the region.
A quick check on the ChargEV app again shows that the Trong Toll Plaza setup includes a single cabinet serving four satellite chargers, powering four EV charging bays (EVCBs).
Similar to the WCE Taiping setup, Plugshare indicates Trong houses three 200 kW satellites and one liquid-cooled nozzle capable of a maximum 400 kW output. The charging speed, however, depends on the vehicle's maximum input rate, the number of vehicles charging, and their state of charge (SOC) at any given time.
For instance, a Lotus Eletre with an 800-volt architecture plugged into the liquid-cooled nozzle might achieve a peak charging capacity of 350 kW, resulting in a 10-80% fast charging rate of 20 minutes, as claimed by the manufacturer.
Another unique feature of the WCE Trong DC Handal station is the presence of two security monitoring cameras. According to a source present during testing, these cameras may have two-way communication capability, allowing hotline personnel to guide users experiencing difficulties, watching in real-time to ensure proper procedures are followed.
The pricing at this location is consistent with all other DC Handal stations, set at RM1.50/kWh. Accepted payment methods include debit and credit cards, MyDebit (NEW), Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and virtual payments through the JomCharge and ChargEV applications. The station is also AutoCharge enabled.
