- Report: New smart #6 Sedan In The Pipelines, Debuts This Year
It seems smart Automobile is reportedly set to create its first ever four-door sedan offering, and it will debut which later this year. (Note: smart #3 Brabus pictured)
It appears that the smart Automobile brand is set to expand in line-up soon with its first ever four-door sedan model, reports Autocar UK. Promising to be the marque’s quickest and most advanced model to date, the Geely-run marque has placed the Tesla Model 3 in its crosshairs.
Reportedly set to be christened a the smart #6, Autocar UK continues citing its source in saying that said new model, which will be positioned as a flagship, will also feature a sleek and highly aerodynamic design with a distinct raked roofline engineered to be the brand’s slipperiest body to date too.
Currently, smart Automobile has three crossover SUV-type EVs on offer. The new sedan, reportedly christened as the smart #6, will feature familiar touches from which, as well as a distinct raked roofline.
In turn, this will allow the smart #6 to achieve well over 800 KM in range in its most efficient guise, albeit based on the overly ‘generous’ CLTC standards. In terms of European WLTP standards though, expect it to close in on the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD’s 629 KM figure.
Back to design and styling, which will also involve co-parents Mercedes-Benz, the #6 will reportedly continue to feature touches seen in the #1, #3 and #5. It will include things like the surfacing treatment, frameless windows, and 19-inch to 21-inch rolling stock.
Presently, the smart #3 pictured stands as the marque's sleekest and most aerodynamically slippery design to date. The upcoming #6 sedan should significantly better things from which.
The new #6 detailed also promises to be the brand's quickest offering yet. For reference, the Brabus-badged #3 (left) and #1 (right) models boast century sprint times of 3.7 secs and 3.9 secs respectively.
Next comes the promise that the smart #6 will arguably be the marque’s most potent offering yet. Sources have hinted a performance range-topper – likely to feature the ‘Brabus’ badge – will boasts up to 630 HP, or significantly more than the rivalling Tesla Model 3 Performance.
In turn, this should see the #6 in its most potent form desptach 0-100 KM/H sprints in less than 3.5 secs. For reference, the rivalling Tesla mentioned has a claimed century sprint time of 3.1 secs.
The adoption of Geely's new PMA2+ platform also sees the promise of both 400-volt and 800-volt architectures present, as well as ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 400 kW.
Underneath, the smart #6 will reportedly underpin Geely’s new PMA2+ platform – the same as the #5 and its Zeekr 007 ‘cousin’. Derived from Geely’s EV-specific SEA platform base, it can harness both 400-volt and 800-volt architectures, and enable DC fast-charging speeds as high 400 kW.
Like the #1, #3 and #5, expect both single- and dual-motor setups, as well as both rear- (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) options readied. As for batteries, expect 400-volt variants to harness a 75 kWH LFP pack, whilst 800-volt variants should get the 100 kWH NMC pack instead.
Though developed primarily as an EV, the smart #6 will also reportedly see a PHEV option readied alongside too. Recently, prototypes of the #5 primed with a similar PHEV drivetrain form the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 have been spied testing out in the open.
Notably, though developed primarily as an electric vehicle (EV), smart Automobile reportedly plans to ready a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) drivetrain option alongside too. This is part of the brand’s move to fill sales gaps in markets where EV sales haven’t exactly taken off.
Lastly, the new smart #6 detailed is expected to debut this year (2025) sometime within the second half, with sales both in China and overseas expected to commence sometime next year (2026).
