KTM commuters can now rejoice as the ETS train service expands its reach to Segamat starting from March 15th. This exciting development comes as a result of the gradual completion of the Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-tracking rail project, which is slated for full completion later this year.

Once the project is fully operational, passengers can look forward to four ETS services that will conveniently connect them to the town of Johor.

This essentially connects the existing Butterworth - Gemas - Butterworth line with the Padang Besar - Gemas - Padang Besar route that runs further south. The Gemas-JB EDTP project is 192 km long and includes 11 stops in four important districts of Johor, including Segamat, Kluang, and Kulai, before concluding at JB Sentral.

KTMB stated that single-journey fares for the Butterworth to Segamat line commence at RM84, while those for the Padang Besar to Segamat line begin at RM101.

Furthermore, commuters are able to journey from Kuala Lumpur Sentral to Segamat, with one-way tickets available from RM34. Detailed pricing information for each station can be accessed through the KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS) application.

The KTM Segamat station, which began operating in May 2024, was designed with passenger convenience and comfort in mind. The station offers amenities such as parking for 97 cars and 49 motorcycles, escalators, CCTV cameras, a surau, an elevator, and OKU-friendly access.
