Porsche Unveils New Infotainment Upgrade – Now with Dolby Atmos, Amazon Alexa
Porsche has announced it has updated the PCM in-vehicle infotainment system in the 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne.
Porsche has just announced a new update to its Porsche Communications Management (PCM) infotainment suite, promising to offer better performance and new features. The new PCM system will be making its way into the 2025 model year (2025 MY) version of the 911, Taycan, Panamera, and Cayenne.
This upgrade stems from the recent partnership formed between Porsche and Google, which sees the latter firm integrating its services in future generations of Porsche vehicles, starting with the new Macan Electric. On top of that, the Stuttgart-based marque is also throwing in the Porsche Connect package as standard for 10 years to ensure that owners can enjoy a seamless digital user experience in Porsche models for years to come.
By far the biggest highlight of this updated PCM system is the addition of the Porsche App Centre, granting users access to tons of third-party apps ranging from music and video streaming like YouTube, mobile games, news services, smart home apps, and many more. For electrified models like the Macan Electric and Taycan, the new Porsche App Centre also offers EV-related apps like charging map display and EV navigation apps for easier access to charging stations.
Not to forget, the new PCM system also gains new digital assistant support in the form of Amazon Alexa, which can be opted as the alternative to the standard Porsche Voice Pilot system. Last but not least, Porsche will also pair the updated PCM suite with the latest version of the Dolby Atmos immersive sound technology, although this will only be available to models equipped with premium audio systems like Bose and Burmester.
