- Upcoming Volvo EX60 EV SUV Teased in ES90 Reveal Video
Making its surprise appearance in the Volvo ES90’s reveal video is the upcoming EX60 EV SUV, set to debut later in 2026.
The new Volvo ES90 may have grabbed all the international headlines during its global debut yesterday, but there’s a second model that might have stolen some of its thunder. Making its surprise appearance inside the ES90’s reveal video is Volvo’s upcoming EV SUV, the Volvo EX60.
The upcoming EV SUV appeared roughly during the 25th minute of the ES90’s launch video, where a woman opened a door to reveal what appears to be a partially covered clay model. Before she quickly closes the door, we can see that the clay model gets similar-looking taillights as the EX90 flagship, but the biggest giveaway is probably the ‘EX60’ nameplate primed on the rear bumper.
A deep dive into the teased EX60 also reveals that the upcoming EV SUV gets the same dual-stack LED taillight design as the EX90, featuring the main lighting unit plus thin LED strips on either side of the rear windscreen. Also seen here is the partially blacked-out rear bumper with a metal-hued trim, giving the EX60 a sportier edge compared to its larger sibling.
We already knew that the upcoming EX60 will be closely related to the combustion-powered XC60, at least in terms of size and market segment. Beyond that, however, Volvo has kept most of the juicy details under wraps for now, but they’ve noted prior that the EX60 will underpin a new SPA3 platform, which is an evolution of the current SPA2 architecture used on both the ES90 and EX90 flagships.
The Swedish marque further went on to suggest that the new SPA3 platform will be a scalable architecture that will eventually be used in every single Volvo model in the future, including the other two new models joining the EX60 later in 2026.
We can expect to learn more about the upcoming Volvo EX60 in the coming months, leading to its eventual debut sometime in 2026. Given Volvo’s plan to launch no less than five new models this year, this definitely won't be the last time we hear anything from them this year.
