- 2026 Volvo EC40 Single Motor Variant Now Open for Booking – RM248,888
Volvo Car Malaysia has opened the order books for the new, single-motor variant of the Volvo EC40, priced at RM248,888.
Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has expanded its 2026 model year lineup for the Volvo EC40 by adding a new single-motor variant. Now open for booking, the new 2026 Volvo EC40 Ultra Single Motor will retail at RM248,888, making it RM40,000 cheaper than the current twin-motor EC40 variant.
In conjunction with its booking commencement, VCM will also be offering new EC40 buyers free 1st-year car insurance worth RM5,600 and a wallbox charger voucher worth RM5,000 for a limited time.
Back to the EV crossover, the new EC40 Single Motor variant still gets pretty decent power, with its single, rear-mounted permanent magnet motor rated at up to 238 PS (175 kW) and 420 Nm. This enables a pretty rapid century sprint time of 7.3 seconds for the EV crossover, while its V-max is still capped at 180 km/h.
In return, the EC40 Single Motor sacrifices its performance for better travel range, as its 70-kWh battery pack—the same one used on the dual-motor model—is now capable of delivering up to 488 km of maximum WLTP range. Similarly, said battery pack can still be charged from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes via the DC fast charging method.
Despite its position as the new ‘entry-level’ variant, the new EC40 Single Motor still comes standard with the same Ultra trim as its dual-motor twin, thus granting it the same exterior equipment, such as the large 19-inch alloy rims. New for the single-motor variant is the Sand Dune exterior colour, which was first introduced on Volvo’s flagship EV SUV, the EX90.
Besides the new colourway, customers can also opt for the new EC40 with Volvo’s other classic colourways like Aurora Silver, Onyx Black, and Crystal White.
Onboard, it comes with leather-free upholstery with Charcoal Connect suede textile and Charcoal Microtech, while featuring the new Cutting Edge accents on the dashboard and door panels. Also new here is the 9-inch infotainment unit that now runs on the Google built-in software, accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital metre cluster.
As with all Volvo cars in Malaysia, the new EC40 Single Motor comes with the full Safe Space Technology suite featured in its flagship models with the latest collision-avoidance technology, advanced driver assistance systems, and a reinforced structure that prioritises safety for occupants in the car and road users around it.
