The face-lifted 992.2-gen Porsche 911 sportscar officially arrived in Malaysia earlier today via a special Porsche Malaysia roadshow event.

The face-lifted eight-generation Porsche 911 sportscar, also known by its 992.2 chassis code, has officially arrived in Malaysia. As expected, two variants were announced, and it includes the electrified new hybrid-powered variant too.

The model was showcased by local importers Sime Darby Auto Performance (Porsche Malaysia) earlier today at a special roadshow event. Held at TRX, Kuala Lumpur, the event doubles up as a commemoration of the firm’s landmark 15th anniversary.

Happening this week at TRX, KL from April 11 to April 13, the special roadshow also doubles up to commemorate Porsche Malaysia's 15th anniversary.

As before, entry into this iconic sportscar nameplate starts with the base 911 Carrera guise. It continues to pack a signature rear-mounted 3.0-litre ‘Boxer’ flat 6-cyl twin-turbo petrol mill, though upgraded turbos and intercooler sees output raised to 394 PS and 450 NM now.

Said mill continues to drive the rear wheels (RWD) exclusively through an 8-speed ‘PDK’ DCT automatic box, thus enabling 0-100 KM/H dashes in just 3.9 secs whilst enroute towards a claimed V-max of 294 KM/H.

As detailed in our previous report, visual changes in the 992.2-gen Porsche 911 inside and out are relatively mild to say the least.

As for exterior design tweaks, the refreshed 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera rocks a new and redesigned version of Porsche’s signature matrix LED headlights, matched with a redesigned rear taillight strip, as well as a repositioned rear licence plate in the rear bumper element.

Changes in the cabin sees the dash now primed with a new fully digital 12.6-inch instrument panel offering up to seven configurable layouts. Another small but significant change here is the deletion of the twist-key starter in favour of a simpler push-start button.

Key changes on board include the switch to fully digital displays plus the deletion of the signature twist-key ignition, the latter now replaced by a traditional push-start button.

As for the infotainment, the massive 10.9-inch touchscreen now offers deeper integration with Apple devices via its built-in Apple CarPlay suite. Porsche adds this now allows native use of apps like Spotify and Apple Music without needing to connect an iPhone.

Moving to price, the new 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera model commands a starting price tag of RM1.43 million excluding options.

Announced but not showcased is a more potent and electrified new 911 Carrera 4 GTS variant.

For those seeking more performance, the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS variant slotted above the base-spec model we just detailed earlier should sate this need. That’s because this guise of the 992.2-gen 911 packs an even more potent and electrified T-Hybrid powertrain.

As a refresher, the T-Hybrid powertrain consists of a 3.6-litre ‘Boxer’ flat 6-cyl turbo petrol mill augmented by an e-motor positioned between the compressor and turbo’s turbine wheels, as well as a second e-motor primed within the 8-speed PDK automatic transmission.

The T-Hybrid system puts out 540 PS and 610 NM to enable the 911 Carrera 4 GTS to despatch 0-100 KM/H sprints in just 3.0 secs.

Borne out of this setup is an electrically driven turbo, which negates the need for a wastegate whilst enhancing throttle responses and performance. Moreover, the e-motor in the turbo also generates an 11 kW boost, much like the ‘MGU-H’ system found in racecars.

Altogether, both e-motors draw power from a 400-volt, 1.9 kWh battery pack mounted up front. This setup delivers combined outputs of 540 PS and 610 NM, and the added all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup grants 0-100 KM/H dashes in 3.0 secs plus a higher 312 KM/H V-max.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS variant also sees several additions that includes rear-wheel-steering (RWD), 10 MM lower sports suspension plus PASM variable damping suite, as well as 20-inch (front) and 21-inch (rear) staggered wheels.

Additionally, the electrified 911 Carrera 4 GTS sees its chassis benefit with added rear-wheel-steering (RWS), 10 MM lower sports suspension, PASM variable damping suite, as well as staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheel sizes.

Naturally, with more tech and subsequently higher performance levels delivered, the 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS commands a higher starting price tag of RM1.89 million. We’ll add that both Coupe or Targa bodystyles options are available for this guise too.
