- Trio Involved In KLIA Ekpres, ERL Service Cables Theft Nabbed
Three local men aged 25 to 50 were arrested on suspicion of stealing KLIA Ekpres and KLIA Transit Express Rail Link (ERL) service cables in the Bandar Baru, Salak Tinggi, and Dengkil areas, according to Sepang District Police Chief ACP Norhizam Bahaman.
Investigations reveal that the individuals possess a background of criminal involvement and substance abuse, as evidenced by arrests conducted earlier today by his department and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Selangor Contingent Headquarters.
With this arrest, police were able to solve three cases of ERL cable theft that occurred in the Sepang district,” he says in a Bernama report.
According to Norhizam, the case was being investigated under Sections 379 and 447 of the Penal Code, but the case items (stolen cables) have not yet been recovered because police are still looking for two other individuals who may be connected to the group.
KLIA Ekpres and KLIA Transit services were disrupted on Wednesday due to two separate cable theft incidents. The thefts took place on the ERL route between Salak Tinggi Station and KLIA Terminal 1 Station, and between Putrajaya & Cyberjaya Station and Salak Tinggi Station.
