- Ferrari 296 Speciale Gains New Le Mans-Inspired Piloti Edition
The Ferrari 296 Speciale gains a new Piloti edition, featuring design bits inspired by the 499P Le Mans hypercar.
Besides Toyota and McLaren, Ferrari also didn’t want to miss out on the action at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race, as the automaker unveils the limited ‘Piloti’ edition for the Ferrari 296 Speciale sportscar. Created by Ferrari’s Tailor Made bespoke arm, the Piloti 296 Speciale is only reserved for customers “involved in Ferrari’s official sporting activities—both competitive and non-competitive.”
Designed for “those who live the track firsthand,” the Piloti 296 Speciale draws inspiration from the 499P Le Mans hypercar, which just charted a hat-trick of Le Mans victories, winning the top-class Hypercar category in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The 499P inspos comes in the form of the special Giallo Modena accents, as well as several hand-painted WEC logos scattered across the exterior. A special Italian flag motif is also present on the front bumper of the car, while buyers can pick their own racing number for the car.
Apart from the signature Rosso Scuderia red hue, you can also spec the Piloti 296 Speciale with other special colours like Blu Tour De France, Nero Daytona, and Argento Nurburgring.
The motorsport theme continues as we get inside the Piloti 296 Speciale, where its racing seats are wrapped in special black Alcantara upholstery with contrasting yellow accents and seat belts. Buyers will also find several carbon fibre bits, including on the special commemorative plaque and door sill plates. In case you think the car isn’t Italian enough, there’s a Tricolore strip on the steering wheel, which also acts as the centre stripe.
Given that the Piloti treatment is essentially a commemorative design package, the Piloti 296 Speciale doesn’t get any performance upgrades over the standard model. It continues to be powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup that delivers a combined system output of 868 hp. Matched with an 8-speed DCT gearbox, the 296 Speciale can propel from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and has a V-max of 330 km/h, while the 7.45-kWh battery pack grants it up to 25 km of pure-electric range.
The all-new Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale is not the first and only Le Mans special Ferrari has ever made, as the Italian automaker also created a special model based on the SF90 for the 2023 race. Given its triple victory success this year, we’re confident that the Piloti 296 Speciale won’t be the last Le Mans special by the Prancing Horse.
